EVs and Toyota
They forget they are talking to the company that sold more Hybrids than anyone else, as far as I know.
I do think it is silly for Toyota to push for long range EV's right out of the gate tho but just my opinion.
So what about it is inaccurate? Simply shooting the messenger isn't exactly the strongest way to present a counter argument if you think it is wrong.
The people writing these articles are pro-Tesla by a mile and will say anything to paint Toyota in a negative light. That article was another example. I doubt shareholders were like "oh my gosh, Tesla really has me worried" and were freaking out like the buffoon writing that article made it out to be. Toyota will be fine, as I've said many times...
I see all this pressure being put on Toyota by other pro EV groups around the world as pure bullying to get them "all in" on the EV product offerings and "play ball".

In this case, the pressure is coming from Toyota shareholders (like me) who were the ones asking the questions to Toyota executives at the 2023 General Shareholders Meeting. Toyota may well have sold a lot of hybrids in the past, but the financial services industry caveat reminding us that "past performance may not be indicative of future results" is bang on point here. If there comes a time when you've only got apples but the customers want oranges, you're going to struggle.
And I agree, they will need to add EVs in the future.
I'm just not on the Toyota damning wagon..... yet. lol

Not saying you are, of course, just the Toyota damning and bullying by EV groups pressuring them with hit piece articles constantly.
Toyota can make an EV nooooooo problem.IMO Lol
So now you're doubling down on shooting the messenger, which (quite ironically as you suggest that the person writing the article must be a buffoon) has long been the most intellectually lightweight way to argue a point. Again, what specifically do you disagree with and why? As for Electrek, there was quite a lot of coverage about the questions raised in the General Shareholder Meeting in other places too. Or are the other articles all written by buffoons too?
Just because Toyota didn't rush into EV's blindly doesn't mean they are in a world of trouble, like all of you are pointing to.
Thank you for your thoughtful post.

I told you what I disagree with. All these articles by electrek want to make Toyota out to be totally incompetent and Tesla can't do any wrong. It's the same vibe that everyone's been getting on this forum for the last 2-3 years by the entire Tesla brigade.

Nobody has posted anything on this forum predicting Toyota's demise. At least I haven't seen one. But also I hear nothing but excuses when I ask the question as to why The Model 3 and Y outsell Toyota's bread and butter Corolla, Camry and Rav4's. I keep hearing chip shortages, supply chain woes, same ol same ol. And also nobody has explained why their hybrid sales numbers are down YoY.
Nobody is saying Toyota is going out of business. And even if someone is saying that, there really is no reason to be defensive if it's not true, which it's not

So no, I don't accept these arguments. You're choosing to look for and choosing to be upset by what are, in reality, needles in haystacks as it relates to content on Club Lexus.

Whether we agree or disagree, that all cool!
I think Electrek is a little biased sometimes but I am not shooting the messenger or fellow Club Lexus members,
so plz I like to clear that up of any misunderstandings.
Agree? cool

Disagree? cool

Toyota is great company that has always made great cars, which is why I bought their vehicles for over 30 years. I just happen to disagree with their EV strategy. Doesn't mean I and others on here suddenly turned on them, and it doesn't mean I think they are going to go out of business. They still sell a ton of cars and will figure out what's best for the company. They definitely know more than I do about their business and customers
