Tesla has had auto high beams since I bought the car last year. Same with the Polestar. Adaptive is different, they light up areas without blinding other drivers on the road

This is also the difference with Tesla vs other manufacturers, my BMW has the capability but it is coded off in the U.S. and it would be so easy for BMW to code in with a software update now that they are legal but they just won’t do it and never have which is so disappointing. Tesla is the exact opposite.

I don't think my model Y has Matrix headlights, but definitely adaptive. Now they have enabled the ability to "move" when you go around curves. My 2010 IS350 had that ability (hid's), but they physically moved where the Tesla's don't. My Polestar has Matrix lights, but they haven't activated them yet

We are saying the exact same thing

"it's just auto on and off high beams when it detects objects (car lights etc)"

That's what auto high beams do. Apology accepted

I'd be surprised if you didn't have matrix. Matrix is the one on the bottom.

I think the performance dual motor Y's have adaptive the standard dual motor does not. This is 2022 don't know about other years.

Just confirmed I have the lights shown at the bottom. Also checked, and the 2023 Y LR has the LED Matrix headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam (ADM)

Nice, my car doesn't have them but amazingly they can be retrofitted.

Haha yeah, way, way too much work for me. I would have my mechanic do it. 10 years ago I would have dived right in......

you're right, sorry you guys did both say about auto high beams, i quoted the wrong parts, but that is NOT the same as adaptive headlights whether lights that turn, or matrix lighting.

and as far as i can tell from what i read, u.s. cars can have matrix lights installed but can't use their full potential unless they're hacked ('coded').

Today I noticed discoloration around the window trim of my Y on both sides

Doing a search found that this is caused by contactless car washes. And wouldn't you know it, I recently took it to one. Not sure how it causes this, maybe a chemical they use.

Good news though. It can be restored by using Turtle wax according to several posts in the Tesla forum. Not sure how that works, but there were several before and after pics
