Id like for someone to actually be able to tell us what the difference in range would have been if MB made the EQS look like the S class. They can already do a lot of stuff to make a non egg shape car pretty aero. I remember the W212 E class coupe was named most aerodynamic car in production at its time in 2009 at .24cd. E class coupe article.

Current EQE drag is .22 for comparison, EQS at .20 and Model S at .208, lucid .20 and i7 at .24

Wanna blow your mind? W223 S Class cD is .22. So same as the EQE…

MB made them look unusual on purpose for no real benefit.

Mercedes makes more money selling the gas S class models. It’s an easier sell too. I agree they made them unusual on pursue. Hyundai Ironic 6 is odd looking too. Maybe, Mercedes does want them to look good so they don’t take away from S class

Mercedes has said that when they go all EV there will be no EQ models. They will merge the models back together. You will have what people respond to in the EQ models coupled with traditional design elements people want out of the gas models.

So there will be no second gen EQS for instance, only an EV S Class. These vehicles are a test bed.

That is really sad to hear, as I love the profile of the W223! The EQs are such a disappointment ...

Not gonna happen. MB has ended all ICE development and they are all in on an EV changeover.

They will just keep the gas ICE engines in cars longer..keep adding batteries . It’s impossible to convert the entire Mercedes lineup to batteries worldwide in one generational cycle.

They don't think so, I have to go with what they say they can do. They have already addressed that, they will continue to make the older models in markets where going to EVs isn't feasible. So for instance those models will continue to have the W223 when we have an EV W224.

I'm guessing the lower numbers are better?

I hear ya, personally I think it will be suicide for MB to do that aka go all EV.
I think they did the right thing offering a separate model like ths EQE just for EV's.

Its not just MB, its everybody. Everybody has made a similar commitment. The entire industry is not going to just do an about face on this.

By thw 2030s, if you want a high end car like an S Class, etc, its going to be an EV. Even Rolls Royce and Bentley have committed to going all EV.
