So I ended up negotiating another $1000 off of MSRP, which made up for the $4000 Dealer Markup instead of $3500 markup listed in the email. We also ended up getting $500 in GM credits that you can spend in GM parts stores, service centers etc. I don't have all the figures in front of me, but we got $7500 EV credit (which my daughter will use when doing her 2023 taxes next year), a $2000 credit she has to apply for from the state of California, a $500 discount for being a recent graduate (from GM), and $500 in GM credits she can spend at GM dealerships for merchandise, service etc. So basically what she paid up front is nearly the cost of a Model 3, as she won't get the two biggest discounts (the EV tax credits) until she does her taxes next year and secondly applies for the state rebate.
Since she is 22 and this is her first job, she doesn't make that much money, she got a high interest rate even though her credit score is high. To keep her payments low, my wife and I lended her $15K for the down payment. I would have co-signed, but this is a chance for her to build her credit, and she will eventually make more money as she progresses in her career. In a year or two she should be able to refinance at a lower rate.
The sales guy was nice, he took a hint quickly when he came in for the upsale, but the whole process was time consuming and took nearly 3 hours. The dealership model is so inefficient and I ended up having to leave work for 4 hours. We had to keep rechecking the numbers and every time we found a mistake or made a change, it would waste another 15 minutes. He also tried to pull the "there's another couple who also wants to buy this car" routine, but when I told him we are not in a hurry, we can wait a few months for the right one, he never mentioned the other couple again. LOL
Anyway here are some other pics of the Bolt:
The backseats are very roomy, and the flat floor with no hump easily allows 3 people to sit in the back and stretch out their legs
Drives pretty amazing. Smooth as butter drivetrain, and it has some pretty advanced safety tech. Suspension is well tuned, we hit some pretty bumpy roads and you hardly feel them. Also has lots of buttons, which my daughter loves. She fell in love with it the moment she drove it. The best parts, no routine maint, and 100 MPGe plus efficiency. It has enough power to get around and make quick maneuvers when needed. A perfect starter car
What type of charging cable did it come with? a cousin who got a VW ID4 recently got a level 1 only.
Congrats to your daughter! (and to the proud father)
It came with a 240v charging cable with both a 110v and NEMA 14-50 adapters. One of the options GM offers is a $500 credit to install a 240v circuit. I won't need to install a second charger, all I will need to do is have our electrician install a NEMA 14-50 plug. I'll post a pic of it probably tomorrow
Congrats to your daughter. I’m sure she will love it.
In fact, it is currently one of my three favorite GM products right now for the kind of driving I do…along with the Encore GX and Trailblazer.

Thank you very much sir. She absolutely loves it. I just drove it home from my work where she parked her old car (her Camry) and it drives really nice. GM did a good job with this vehicle. It has about 250 miles of range, range is not even remotely a problem and there are chargers everywhere here just in case. I hope GM sells a lot of these
Your daughter is not going to be home all weekend haha. Too busy out driving!
Haha I hope not. She's a good kid, doesn't party, keeps good friends, and most of all, never lies to us. Although she is 22, so we really wouldn't be able to stop her. BTW, already have a buyer for the Camry. Now we are down to only one ICE, three EV's. By next year, I hope to be 4 for 4!
