Default Rear suspension creaking noise - SOLVED

Thanks to our mate Coulter, I was able to fix an annoying creaking noise in rear suspension whenever I went over a speed bump. Had the trailing arm bushing (ADUS 577, both sides, $20 each) replaced and the noise was gone. Toyota doesn't make them so if you want to go OEM you'll have to buy the entire arm.
Despite being made of polyurethane, it is not as stiff as I was afraid of it being. Also, it doesn't look exactly like the original one, which is made of natural rubber, but it was a cheap fix that worked wonders for me.

Glad it worked out for you, it's a cheap fix and I was especially relieved that I tried it before replacing my rear strut mounts and struts. (which is what a shop told me to do to stop the noise, for a cost of around $1200)

I ended up replacing the rear trailing arm bushing myself, and now my car doesn't sound like an old mattress every time I go over the slightest bump.

Wicked! This was going to be my next area to tackle, after the sway bar bushings.

I have the same problem with my 97es, was going to change the struts. Did you do the install? (if so how about a DIY blow x blow).

Also when should the struts be replaced?

Thanks,
DD

My struts were replaced 4 years go with OEM units and are still in perfect condition. I had a friend replace the trailing arm bushings and he took less than an hour to get it done (both sides). It's a pretty straightforward job. With some wrenches, a small bushing press tool and a pair of new poly bushings the old mattress noise was gone for good.

Default hey

I dont know much about cars so bear with me. I have a 94 lexus es 300 and ever since I bought the car about 8 months ago ive been hearing a rumbling sound in the rear. It doesnt matter what speed im going its always there and it gets really loud when I go over big bumps. I thought it could be the bearing cause I did the "play" test and the wheel has quite alot of play.
So I took the wheel off and started moving the hub around and it seems like it's loose where the bushings are. If where the rubber part is the bushing. I talked to the guys as advance auto and they think it's either, bushing's, trailer arm, bearing or torsion arm. I really dont wana be throwing all this money at it when im not for sure.

Any help would be great. Ive been trying to diagnose this problem for awhile with no luck.
