Smile model yr 1992 & 1993 commercials es 300

USA Commercials. There are a few japan and aussie es 300/windom ones as well, but these really are the key, unless that aussie one is confirmed to be usa aired as well, but still, these were the first two years of the real legacy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1992 Lexus ES commercial "Ball Bearing"

this is a famous commercial, nissan even made a copy of it with altima as a response a couple years later [i actually remember seeing that on tv as a kid, its also on youtube]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AktHnnA9QIM

--------------------------------------------

I WANT ONE SHOWING OFF THE 5 speed!! And one with someone showing off acceleration. I do not recall these commercials at all [except maybe a lexus ball bearing commercial maybe, but the nissan one I did for sure] so if you remember seeing that let me know, and if you have any commercials at all, please upload them.

its VHS quality man, come on tuan. 1993. obviously, it would sound better in normal TV format live .... it actually makes perfect sense. the es 300 is good at blocking out outside sounds, AND playing back music, so that what you hear inside will have no dips or peaks due to the outside sounds AND the interior/speakers/etc. dont you get it???

Sports sedan... thats funny. Cool to see them again. Good find. Didnt Lexus do the ball bearing again recently? Maybe a year or two ago?

what's funny about it being a sports sedan? It beat the BMW 3 series in every measure except the RWD 3 series is more sporty oriented cockpit / steering is better.
fall/winter 1991/1992 you had this car, you were WAY ahead of everything else on the road.

i dont know about the ball bearing

I'm not a BMW guy at all. They have too many electrical and mechanical issues in general like most german cars. In fact the only BMW I have ever been interested in owning is a manual 850 as I have always loved those cars. Be that as it may, they are much, much sportier driving cars. The 1992 3 series was a far superior sports sedan as far as dynamic handing, steering response, the gearbox is a pure joy to work (I know i've driven a 92, comparitively I spent a little time behind the wheel of a well maintained 94' ES). Much of that is because it is a rear drive car but they are more enjoyable theres no disputing that. Unfortunately the levels of standard equipment and reliability are not even close. Thats why I own a Lexus. As far as luxury appointments and coddling the Lexus is a clear cut winner. The looks factor is pure opinion but the Lexus gets my nod in that category as well.... The ES just doesn't have the same responses and is much softer as is pretty clearly illustrated by the age of people who have bought them.

I agree with llcoolpass about the '92 ES being correctly labeled a "sports sedan" especially when one compares it to its very boxy predecessor, the ES250. I mean, Lexus redesigned the car from the ground up for 1992 and incorporated a very sleek, stylish, and aerodynamic form that was light-years ahead of the previous ES.
If I had purchased a new ES250 in 1991 and then discovered what Lexus was unveiling for the following year, I'd still be kicking my *** around the block!!!

Sports sedan implies more then what the ES was and still is capable of delivering as far as driving dynamics and fun to drive factor. Thats all i'm saying..... The term just started to get thrown around in the early 90's so perhaps at the time you could make a case. I'm just saying, stock out of the box, with 65 series tires, pulling less then .8 on the skidpad, I don't think so, even in 1992. I can't comment on the gearbox but i know it's not bmw quality because nobody besides Honda has matched it even today. Theres no comparison to the es250 though, your right on there.
