Better today than yesterday!
After 10 months and a little over 5K miles (I don’t get out much!), I made a minor discovery about my car this morning. I’m finally comfortable, and no longer spend what little drive time I have trying to figure out how stuff works or looking for things that annoy me. And I like it even more!
Based on a few posts on this forum, I experimented with the settings on my ML sound system and discovered that I really like it. I also subscribed to higher quality streaming, which makes it even better! This is what made me decide to use Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps. I found both to be pretty good once I figured out how to move around in the apps. In the end it’s way better than Enform and factory nav, and I no longer have to fight with Bluetooth connectivity issues almost every day. I still miss the traffic reporting in Waze, but it’s only a passing sigh. Here’s the big one. I use ECO mode almost all the time. I was unhappy with the transmission for months, then read a comment that ECO makes it feel smoother. It does! Sometimes the acceleration feels like I’m driving through mud due to hesitant downshifts, but I got used to it in a very short time and the benefit is WELL worth it (hint: the shift paddles help when it’s just too much). I put it Sport Mode sitting at a light the other day, and almost put myself in the back seat when I hit the gas! OK, maybe that’s a minor exaggeration, but you get the point.
We spend a lot of time on this forum, talking about the foibles in the character of our cars. When I decided to adjust to some of the things I didn’t like rather than just being annoyed, I started to appreciate the entire package, it really improved how I felt about the car. I loved my car from the start, but now it’s better than it was. After having new cars every 2 or 3 years forever, this could be the one I keep. My wife says ….. Yeah. We’ll see.

Couldn't agree with you more my friend. 🙏 Perfectly put! 💯 The little things can drive us nuts if we focus on them too much. I think most people here (myself included) are just trying to get the absolute best out of the car but we can't forget how incredible the car really is as a whole in our endeavor. It's a fantastic vehicle. Best I've ever owned hands down! 💙
