Where are you going to get 7-8% these days without risking your principal? He did say he's near retirement so it's a legitimate concern.

I say do whichever you think works best for you. When I bought my '19 ES300H I paid cash (not meaning to brag). Sure, I could have invested the cash and leased, but I hate the thought of making payments. We don't always have to base our actions on a financial point of view. There are always other considerations as well.

Great looking ES300H! I have one in Atomic Silver and its the beat car I've ever owned and I've had some nice ones!
