Default 6 Month Service

Our 2025 ES350 is due for its 6 month service, however the car has only 1500 miles on it. Should we wait until we have more mileage or take it in now?

Take it in. The six month and one year services are free. The six month service is the only time you can have them change some of the dealer programmable settings for free. On my 2025 ES300h I had them activate the feature to lower all the windows when you hold the unlock button.

Worst case scenario you will probably get a free car wash out of it.

From the 2025 LEXUS ES250, ES350 WARRANTY AND SERVICES GUIDE's MAINTENANCE Introduction section:
Determining Your Maintenance Interval:
Months vs. Mileage

Lexus recommends obtaining scheduled maintenance for your vehicle every six months or 5,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

For example:

● If at six months you have driven less than 5,000 miles, you should obtain maintenance at six months; don’t wait until 5,000 miles.

● If you drive 5,000 miles in less than six months, you should obtain maintenance at 5,000 miles; don’t wait until six months.
...
In short, the maintenance interval is whichever interval type's expiration occurs first - time or mileage.

Unfortunately, the 2025 version of the LEXUS ES250, ES350 WARRANTY AND SERVICES GUIDE changed the format of recommended maintenance from the previous model years' versions' "SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE LOG" with individual time or mileage checklist style log entries to a "SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CHART" where the column interval is just "thousand miles interval," which may mislead low mileage drivers into exceeding/ignoring time-based maintenance requirements.

Hmm ... I see the My Lexus Resources web page for the 2025 model year ESs does NOT have a "Lexus Personalized Settings" PDF available for downloading. The "Lexus Personalized Settings" PDF was/is a handy form with all the available personalized settings listed with the possible options/values for each setting. That form makes it really easy to print it out, mark it up with any changes you want the dealer to make, and hand the marked-up form to the service manager to minimize/avoid any misunderstanding of what settings changes you want made.

Since there were no changes in personalized settings between the 2023, 2024, and 2025 model year ESs, any of the prior model year "Lexus Personalized Settings" PDF forms will work. (The only difference is in the model year printed at the top of the form.) A direction load link for the 2024 version is 2024 ES 350/300h/300h F Lexus Personalized Settings.

Details on Personalized Settings from the 2025 Lexus Warranty and Services Guide:

What are Lexus Personalized Settings?

Your vehicle includes a variety of electronic features that can be programmed to your preferences.
For example, doors can be programmed to remain locked when you shift into “Park.” (For more
information, see the “Customizable Features” section of the Specifications chapter in your Owner’s Manual.)
Programming of these features is performed once at no charge, provided you obtain the service at the
six-month/5,000-mile scheduled maintenance service. Programming of some Lexus Personalized Settings
requires special equipment and may be performed only by an authorized Lexus dealership.

I have driven to my lexus place a few times...not even gettng service. There is always a guy in the driveway who helps me set or program what I need. I think they should do this always, as long as it is not excessive.

The personalized settings being referred to here are ones that require the Lexus Techstream software to program. The dealer does this via the OBD port. They can't be programmed just by pressing buttons in the car.

Yeah so they can scratch it up for you. I would not let dealership near my car unless it was a mandatory safety recall.

Requiring the "Lexus Techstream software to program" isn't strictly necessary. There are quite a few other tools that connect to the OBD II port that have the capability to change the "Programmable by Dealer" personalized settings. Based upon frequency of mentions in past thread postings, Carista is one such tool that seems popular for the task.

I would also ask to have the oil changed. Most engine wear is in the 1st 1,000 miles. But it will be on your dime, but totally worth it.

OP, +1 on this ^
if you plan to keep past warranty; I did my own UOA experiment and wrote about this here:
My 10k oil contaminants experiment on the A25A-FXS (ES 300h)

*Not required, but recommended. There are countless of threads about this...

In my 2025 ES350 owner's manual, section 8.2 (page 404) has all of the customizable features listed and where they can be changed: center display, meter control switches or by Lexus dealer. There are seven pages of features listed.

Had my 6 month service done today and I had the oil changed ,my car has 1350 miles on it .
The service writer said I could get the oil change free if I elected to use the 10,000 mile service which is what I did.It covered the oil, filter and cabin air filter and I had the recall done as well
She said that an oil change is $177 . I take my own oil, filter and drain seal to Toyota and its $48 for the oil change and tire rotation.Lexus has lost their mind.

What was the recall for? I assume you have a 2025 ES350.
