I just got a scheduled Maintenance Reminder (due soon). What for? The mileage tracker shows no oil change is due for 8,000 miles (or 9 months). The only thing I can guess is brake fluid, which is due at 30,000 miles or 3 years, which ever comes first. I had it done 3 months ago at 33 months (14,500 miles) by an independent mechanic, who didn’t deal with the maintenance reminder.
My questions:1) What maintenance issues do these reminders come on for other than oil changes?
2) Do they appear (for whatever they’re alerting you to) at months elapsed if time has elapsed since that last maintenance item was performed even though less than required mileage has been driven.
Pardon me if it’s somewhere in the owner’s manual. I don’t recollect seeing it there.

All the Multi Information Display (MID) reminders are strictly miles driven since last reset reminders. The miles number is fixed to the mileage service intervals found in the respective XXXX Lexus ES YYYY Warranty and Services Guide . From page 34 of the 2021 Lexus ES250/ES350 Owner's Manual:
The two Oil Maintenance related reminders are tied to the odometer "Distance until next engine oil change" number. For US sold ESs, “Oil Maintenance Required” mileage interval is 10000 miles since last rest.

If your ES is equipped with the 12.3 inch Navigation Multimedia System, there's also an additional maintenance reminder system with more flexibility in allowing you to set your own expiration date or milage countdown number for 12 predefined items (e.g., Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Rotation, etc.) and 3 Personal items. For more details on this, see the "Maintenance" section starting on page 68 of the 2021 Lexus ES300H, ES350 Navigation and Multimedia System Owner's Manual.
