Dark Front Grill & Chrome Trim
The only thing I have second thoughts about my Moonbeam ES 350 is the big dark graphite grill. I realize so many people love it, I'm just ok with it. I've been thinking about this for a while: Would it be a really bad idea to have a body shop paint the grill in chrome to match the chrome trim around the grill? That would be more like older Lexus all-chrome grills which I prefer. I guess the risk is the body shop doesn't perfectly match the chrome trim surrounding the grill and the two chrome colors are slightly off, thus destroying the car's appearance. Another risk would be the body shop's chrome job isn't as high-quality as that of Lexus and it prematurely fades or chips. Chrome-ify the front grill: Good or bad idea?

chrome isn't paint though. so it probably wouldn't look good.
think there's chinese sites that sell aftermarket chrome grills. you'd probably like it. i thought about getting one of their grills myself but am still on the fence. i'd get the black painted LS style grill. google car-act lexus es grills |
I don't know much about body shops and paint. It sounds like you're indicating a body shop is not an option since chrome isn't paint, so my only option would seem to be to replace the existing dark grill with a chrome grill that I prefer. Are Chinese after-market sites the only source or are there any American companies selling similar products? Are after-market grills as high-quality as the original Lexus grill and would they match the existing chrome trim around the grill?
