General ES 350 Questions

Hello Friends,

First time poster here. I’m in the market to purchase a new ES 350. I’ve narrowed my options down to the F sport or the luxury. I do have a few common questions which I’m hoping I can get clarification on:

1) Which trims of the ES 350 have dual pane glass?

2) Which trims of the ES 350 have the seat cushion extender which extends behind the knees?

3) How much of a ride quality difference is there between the luxury and the F sport? I ask because I recently rented the F sport and I found it to be very comfortable even though I’m not into a sporty drive. While I love superior luxury and quiet ride, I found the drive of the F sport to be very good. Is the luxury version more comfortable and/or is it even noticeable?

4) I know the F sport version has what’s called adaptive variable suspension. I went on YouTube to see if I can find anything that explains in detail what this is and how it affects the right quality of a vehicle. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your feedback

-YES luxury and ultra luxury version is much more comfortable, mainly because of the seat. F-sport seat is hard as hell.

4) I know the F sport version has what’s called adaptive variable suspension. I went on YouTube to see if I can find anything that explains in detail what this is and how it affects the right quality of a vehicle. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
-It give you 1 additional driving mode called Sport+ (other trims give you Sport), it tighten up the steering wheel and suspension, make everything respond faster and feel more tight, I don't think it does anything much with the engine, but it makes you feel like you drive faster LOL

Base on your questions and preferences, I recommend just go with Lux or Ultra Lux :bigthumbu

1) Ultra Luxury and (I think) Luxury do. Premium Plus, base and F Sport don't.

2) Luxury and Ultra Luxury.

3) I haven't driven an F Sport, so I defer to those who've driven both. Testers say the F Sport is firmer, ad you'd expect.

4) Adaptive variable suspension is an option, even on F Sport, and I think it's unavailable on the hybrid F Sport (which is basically just a trim package). It is basically a set of shocks supplied by KYB that is adjustable to a range of 600 levels of firmness. I've seen it said that even the softest is firmer than the non-F Sport versions.

My bias is that I own an Ultra Luxury. Even the non-adaptive variable suspension models have novel "swing-valve" passive shock technology unique to the ES, and handle much better than previous ES's. Try both and see which you prefer.

You are right on LexFinally - Luxury has dual pane. My 2019 Lux has them.

1) Which trims of the ES 350 have dual pane glass?
Luxury and Ultra Luxury. Acoustic glass is only on the front driver and passenger side windows. I can't for the life of me remember where I initially found this info. I'm going off of memory.

2) Which trims of the ES 350 have the seat cushion extender which extends behind the knees?

Test drive both FSport and nonFSport. I've owned the FSport for nearly four years now. The non FSport was a non starter for me. I just love the 19" wheels, FSport cluster and seats. Just my opinion but some may not be comfortable in the somewhat tighter bolstered seats in the FSport. I also prefer the Nuluxe interior as opposed to the real stuff. It just wears better. We have both in the family and the genuine leather in my wife's RX shows wear after five years. Nuluxe NONE.

Thank you so much! So glad I asked... Dual pane glass is very important to me. I thought F sport had it, so thank you so much for the heads up 🙏 I'll check out the luxury. Interested to see how much of a difference the 18 inch wheels make versus the
19's on the F sport.

Thank you for sharing. I think the ultra luxury will be pushing the budget for me so I’m hoping that luxury has dual pane.

Thank you for sharing. So if your 2019 luxury has dual pane, it should be the same for the 2023 luxury, correct? My understanding is it's the same generation.

Really appreciate you sharing that info. Thank you kindly. Personally, for me, Dual pain windows or a lack there of is enough to suite my decision from the F sport to the luxury. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I’ve had the pleasure of renting the F sport for a week, And I absolutely love that. For me right comfort is the Most important aspect and I don’t really drive sporty. So if the luxury version is a comparable price but more comfortable I’ll probably consider that I have this one. Again it’s just a matter of personal preference and I absolutely love the F sport.... In fact it was the F sport that convinced me to get the ES350

In truth, the Luxury has everything you'd want in the Ultra Luxury except for the noise reduction wheels (which I personally think are beautiful as well as quiet) and the 360-degree bird's-eye view monitor, which I've found to be one of those "how did I ever live without this?" features. The challenge will be finding one, because my unscientific impression is that they'e building even fewer Luxurys than Ultras. It's also worth mentioning that even the Ultra leaves several key features optional that, in the real world, every Luxury AND Ultra Luxury you see will have, particularly Levinson/navigation, triple beam headlights and usually the pano sunroof. So the real-world price difference will probably be a bit smaller than the base-price difference would suggest.

Thank you again for your reply. So I did a broad search through cars.com to see who has the luxury model available. It appears most ES 350‘s are either F sport or ultra luxury. Given the information about dual pane windows not being available on a sport that in itself is enough for me to upgrade to ultra luxury. However I also noticed that the cars available are all 2022. I am interested in 2023 and I’m wondering when that would be released because my understanding was they were in production in August and will be available to the public now. Did I miss something?

As well I would be interested in going With a specific interior and exterior color. My search showed up few relults for that particular color combination (black on black). when the 2023‘s do finally come out what options do I have to get my hands on that particular color combination if they are not available in my state? I don’t want the dealer to drive my car from another state to mine. Can they send it by truck so the mileage doesn’t go up? I know it sounds like a minor detail but to me that type of stuff is important in the car buying experience.

I’m also wondering if that’s not an option then if I can do a pre-order on a specific car? For example if I want a black on black ultra luxury can I do some sort of down payment and have them custom order for me? If yes then does that throw out all negotiating power out the window for me?

Keep in mind, many of the options that you typically find on the ultra luxury are also available on the luxury. For example, my luxury model has the noise reducing wheels (and I agree, they are a great looking wheel - almost as nice as the F-Sport) and the 360-degree bird’s-eye monitor.

I actually wanted the Luxury more than the Ultra Luxury. The problem is finding one. When I search cars.com, all Luxury vehicles are located out of state.
