Disappointing 1st road trip
Just picked up my '22 ES300h on Monday, dark blue/black luxury. The dealer I purchased from was in Raleigh, NC and I live on the NC Outer Banks. So I had 3 1/2 hours on the way home to get to know the car. I saw 41-42 mpg at 75, then reset the mpg reading and saw 43-44 when I dropped to 63 mph for the last third of the drive; about what I expected. I'll see where the fuel milage settles as I put more miles on it. I also turned off the lane centering and prefer the old fashion cruise control verse the radar cruise. This is my second ES, the first being an '07, with a '14 MB E250 Bluetec before the 300h. The ride is well controlled, although not as firm as the E Class. Definitely quieter. The ML sound system is great! Love the dark blue metallic in the sun shine. All-in-all pleased with the with the first 500 miles.
PS - My son drives the 07 ES and has over 260K on it. The car has been bullet proof.

Get into the LTA settings and change the Sensitivity from the default STD to HIGH.
I have found that this reduces the oscillation effect we've been discussing here.
Because I use the Dynamic Cruise at highway speeds I assume SunilP and most of
us do also. For those that do not, please turn on the cruise (whether you engage a
speed or not) which gives the LTA and additional input.

Essentially I find LTA/LCA w/ cruise on helps w/ fatigue. I just wish you could adjust the radar sensitivity to something way less sensitive. it sees a car a mile head and it applies the brakes very firmly. that's the thing that really deters me from using radar cruise. the car behind you then gets annoyed like why are you braking.

Hi everyone!
I hope you’re staying warm. It’s a frigid 24f here in San Antonio, which is not compatible with south Texans!
Last week, I took my first road trip in the new car, 2022 ES 300h UL, San Antonio to Corpus Christi. Thankfully it was much warmer, about 60f, the coast was nice, but the drive was disappointing. With the cruise set to 75 - 85mph, I got 40mpg on the way there and 37mpg on the way back. My drive score on the Lexus app was 100 both ways, so I was not driving aggressively.

Also worth mentioning here: A big source of the great gas mileage in hybrids is the energy recaptured when you decelerate. That happens a lot in city stop-and-go driving, which is why hybrids can sometimes get even better MPG in the city than on the highway. Highway cruising, unlike traditional gas-engine vehicles, actually isn't the ideal economy mode for a hybrid car. But since we're conditioned by a lifetime of knowing that highway mileage should be the best mileage, seeing otherwise understandably clashes with our expectations.
I wonder if the ES's excellent aerodynamics are a factor in that. Most SUVs and econoboxes have a lot of drag at highway speeds.
as someone else mentioned you do have to have the cruise control turned on before the actual lane centering works otherwise you will ping-pong between the white lines as the feature that prevent you from going over the white line is the only thing active not the Actual Lane centering.
40/37 is bone crushing, actually, supremely excellent for 85mph on a NEW car. you should actually call Lexus and tell them you think Lexus gave you a factory freak and should send you a bill.
At 85mph, drag is expoentially higher than at 65mph. On my CT200h, I would get around 28-32mpg doing 85.
You're doing supremely excellent, remember you're driving around 4,000 lbs with you in it. at LEAST. So yeah.
