Smile Triple Beam Headlight Install

Hi guys, first of all i am new on here and its awesome seeing all the threads!!

i just bought a 2021 Lexus es350 and i am totally in love with it. It was a 180 coming form a 17 mustang GT. I really wanted to get the triple beam headlights on my car but the dealership only had one car in the lot with that option but it was already sold. I tried to custom order but the guy said it might take up to 8 months for the car to even come in. I asked the service center if install the triple beam headlights after purchase would be plug and play, but most places did not know the exact answer to this. I was wondering if anyone has an idea if installing the triple beam headlight after factory is a plug and play or requires a little bit of manipulation. I know one company that has aftermarket lights but i wanted to know if the oem would work better.

Thank you

Not sure if it's plug n play but have you priced those triple beam lights? Put your seatbelt on before you do so

YES ITS EXPENSIVE ....but there were a lot of used triple beam headlights and i was wondering if its possible. The lexus service guy told me the connectors look the same to the module, but he doesnt know if the wiring is the same...

If it's anything like other triple beam cars, it's a custom wiring job requesting splicing of the OE triple beam harness. you can check the 3IS forum to see what people did there. I mean at the end of the day, it's 12V and ground for the mains and turn signals.. high beam might need some tweaking depending.

I MAY have saved the wiring diagram for the 7ES so I'll check. Down the line this would be a nice upgrade (should i choose to keep the car long term) but i would not be paying the current prices, even used. $1,500 a side... and that's if you're lucky and it doesn't have scratches.

It is a shame you would not get any "core" credit for the $1800 Bi-LED headlamps you wish
to replace with the $3360 Triple Beam units. Those are the costs for each one BTW. The
controller for the Adaptive Front Lighting System is only $300 but I can't tell if the wiring is
plug and play (probably not). The "HL" option is $1515 when ordered with the required "LL"
Luxury Package but they are included with the "UL" Ultra Luxury for a mere $3800 more...
Those standard lamps throw pretty nice light don't they?

The standard Bi-LED lamps are just adequate. Nothing more, nothing less. But that's to my standards--i've been spoiled with good stuff on past cars..

They're the same units shared in many cars such as the Mazda CX-5, Lexus UX, Mazda 6, some Fords, so on and so forth. Basically if it's coming out of showrooms today and it has Bi-LED, they're likely the same unit. Which means they have to be decent. They're an industry standard unit that's shared.

Take it from me with plenty of high end/exotic/fun light retrofits under my belt.

I have the triple beams on my ES - they work well but not sure they're worth the extra $. My wife's RX has standard headlamps and they work just fine for our needs.

I like them just cause they look cool/unique with the headlights off.

Here's a nice comparison

Though the base headlights have a unique/traditional charm to them too. Almost like looking at a human with two eyes, vs an alien predator with 6 eyes. lol. i like both. but overall would still pick the triple beam. too bad not many cars are spec'd with them.

the 2022 triple beams don't look too nice.

If I were you, and those lights weren't so super expensive, and the wiring wasn't a mystery, I'd go for the switch. But these cars are so complicated and the parts so expensive, my recommendation would be to pass. As an aside, when I bought my 2019 I didn't want to pay the extra for the triple beams. However, I couldn't find an UL model without the option so wound up with them anyway. I have to say that I am very pleased with their appearance and performance including the cornering feature. Excellent for night driving.
I'm glad that I have them... Aftermarket may be your only bet. GOOD LUCK!

The base model BI-LED lamps illuminate the sides when you turn at low speeds! Such a cool feature.

I understand the MY22 will get even further turning ability.

I didn't realize the turn signals were different with the trip beams as well.

I didn't get triple beams on our 18 GS Fsport thinking it wouldn't bother me as much or I'd be able to find some and install them but it is not a simple install on most Lexus. After that I made sure our future purchases (an LS & ES thus far) had the option. The output on the single beam is very good but the look of the triple beam is worth the coin in my opinion.

I say all that to say, if you can do it yourself or find someone capable then go for it but you would be a pioneer for this gen ES on the swap.

As long as you're below the 19 mph cutoff threshold, just engaging the turn signal will also turn on the cornering light on the side of the turn direction you're signaling for - no steering wheel turn needed [which as you state also turns on the cornering light].

Yes i've noticed the cornering lamps illuminate w/ the turn signals, lets say when i am making a left turn sitting next to some bushes in the center island. nifty! not sure why lexus couldn't incorporate similar little units into the front bezels as fog lights.

they make them for the camrys (aftermarket)... hoping soon someone will make for the ES.

Hey Sam080820.

Have you considered these? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...63037620%22%7D

I actually like them better than OEM because the blinkers are sequential.
