Lane change assist question

The blind spot monitor in the side mirrors light when cars are approaching in the next lane. If you engage the turn signal it flashes. I don't remember if the steering wheel vibrates.

I think the steering wheel vibrates if I drift out of my lane.

My question: The manual says the steering wheel will vibrate OR you'll get an audible sound. I don't get the sound. Is there a setting for this?

I get a ding for exceeding the speed limit but my settings aren’t set for sound for lane departure. I think a sound alarm is available but I never activated same if it is.

I don't know for sure where it is on the Generation 7 ES, but, for most Lexus (and Toyota) vehicles, the settings for the various safety systems are in the multi-information display in the middle of the main instrument cluster. For the lane departure warning, you can choose either an audible warning or the slight vibration of the steering wheel. You can choose either one but not both.

Is it possible to turn off the audible warning completely? Also how does activate the speed warning?

Use track pad to access the safety mechanism settings to left of steering wheel. Really easy if I could manage it!🤔

I disabled all of those annoying gizmos.

...after having paid for them! I agree. Several of those purported safety features are overrated and a pain. I like blind spot and speeding alarm and beep alarm when parking and coming close front or real and emergency stop when your close to someone in front or back. Other stuff is of questionable value to me.

Agree - the true safety features work well - lane keep is not one of them:)

Haha, I'm thinking of putting those little convex mirrors on my F-Sport side mirrors -- like I've had on all of my previous cars & trucks. They worked great for me.

Lane keep is annoying so I have that disabled. I will turn it on though if I'm on a long highway cruise especially if I have others in the car. Can save your butt if you momentarily fall asleep.

The collision braking one I keep on at the standard level. Even with my relatively aggressive (i like to call it efficient) maneuvering, it rarely thinks i'm about to crash. I can only think of two times it beeped at me thinking i was about to crash (i wasn't dangerously close to any car) so i'm happy that it's not so sensitive.

Generation 3 TSS will be cool though. I imagine it will have night time detection of pedestrian and bicyclists. As of now these systems barely work ok in good light.

WOW! I must respectfully disagree. I think that the safety systems can be a life saver or at least avoid some collisions. My previous car was a MB that sounded a beep when the turn signal was on with a car in the blind spot in addition to a light turning from yellow to red in the side mirror, if I remember correctly. I like that better than the silent warning on the Lexus. If the warning collision sound is annoying, the sensitivity can be reduced to be less .intrusive. The only function I turned off was the audible on the lane departure and only because my wife would yell "What was that?" every time it might happen

All personal preference. I look at the BSM indicator AND turn my head the old fashioned way to ensure safety so I don't need any annoying sound alarms.
