Traded the ES
Hello Guys, after 18 months with my 2019 ES F-sport I've decided to trade her in because those dam sport seats were just so uncomfortable for me and a few other things I didn't like about the car that I'm not sharing because I'm not here to bash Lexus but let's just say they need to step up there tech game there little behind. Anyways after much trolling, I picked up 2021 BMW 540 Xdrive twin turbo. thanks for all your help with my ES i"m sure to be back but probably for the IS this time.

Geez, that Bimmer is gorgeous.. I'm happy with the seats in my UL 350 and probably couldn't afford the BMW anyway... GOOD LUCK with the new wheels... :bigok:

With bells and whistles added, almost $70,000, even more with taxes. Significant price difference from $53-$55K.
It is a beauty though. |

It is a beauty though. Congrats! beautiful car! I have the same issue with the F sport seats and I’ve only put 6,600 miles on the car. My lease can’t end fast enough. |
What's the difference between the ES and the F sport seats? Stiffness? shape? I have to say they look really good but haven't sat in one...

About 10 Years ago I had a Mercedes with their MB Tex seats and after 20-30 minutes it felt like concrete. My test drive didn't long that long to find out. The worst seats of all vehicles I owned.

I agree that I love the look of the F sport seats. Especially the red interior with splashes of black to break it up. As far as my issues with the seat, I have 3 main issues with comfort: 1.) I find the seat bottom uncomfortable after more than about 30-45 minutes. The way the bottom bolsters are shaped and their stiffness starts to make my butt go numb and I’m not a large person (36yo, 5’10, and ~185lbs). I also had a 2017 Mini Clubman with sport seats and the seat bottom was not uncomfortable for me. In general the seat bottom also feels like it has a lack of padding. 2.) The seat back is concave to me. My upper back is supported but my mid back has a gap. The lower back gap can be filled by using the lumbar but my mid back still sits away from the seat. 3.) I personally tend to rest my head on the headrest when I drive. The head rest on the F sport articulates, but it doesn’t go back far enough IMO. My head is always being pressed forward in a way that is awkward. #2 and 3 work together as a double whammy for me. My entire upper body is pressed somewhat forward (upper back and head) while my mid back isn’t touching the seat. Playing with the recline of the seat helps a bit sometimes. |

I am currently in an F-Sport UX 250h loaner while the dealer installs some accessories on my RXh. So this isn't a direct comparison obviously, but the bolstering on an F-Sport UX seat bottom is very pronounced. It also seems like the bottom is harder than any Lexus seat I have sat on before. The seat fits me just fine but I obviously haven't taken any extended drives in it, however it is very uncomfortable for my wife and immediately apparent. Anyway, just sharing an observation from another F-Sport model but this is the first one I have ever driven and I can see how some people may find them uncomfortable.

Had I got the UL 350 I would have kept Lexus

I think all of the above in terms of the difference between models.

They should have made the side bolsters adjustable like they were in my GS

Very nice pickup! Former BMW driver here, across multiple models (way more than in my sig). I've heard of stories where the dealer could add more padding under the seat. But yeah I think in general Lexus does need to work on their seats. The germans have always had great seats, at least in BMWs. I remember their $10,000 optional "comfort seats" back in the day in the 2004 5 Series when it came out.
I do want to try the seats in the new Teslas. Apparently they're beyond anything from any other manufacturer as Tesla designs their seats in house while most manufacturers use a small group of suppliers with pre-existing designs. |
