I don't know if this is a) the way it's supposed to be and always was or b) something wrong with the way the phone and car communicate.

I went to use Google Maps on my iPhone and it starts navigating, with the voice coming through the car speaker. What now happens is with each command, the right side of the display says "Talking" and shows my phone number The phone also vibrates as if a call is coming in.

There was a software update last week downloaded in the car, and an update today of the Lexus app (now at v1.0.22.)

Whether these had anything to do with this situation is unknown.

Does that happen to you, did it always work that way?

Yes that's normal. The car doesn't know how else to treat a command coming from the phone so it shows it as a phone call. It only knows a sound is coming from the phone so it shows your phone number.
The software update to the car is (I'm assuming) was the Enform App Suite update. This has nothing to do with this situation. Also the update to the Lexus app doesn't apply here either. That just helps remote start the car.
Why not just use Apple Carplay so you can see the Google maps on your screen?

 

Thanks for checking and providing the info on the updates. The issue was when the iphone wasn't wired to the USB. I checked wired this morning and it works normally. I thought I had used it that way before and it wasn't a problem... like not being able to make a call because the commands override it, and others not being able to call in.

I have my music on a Flash Drive into USB #1. As we all found out, wiring the phone, drops the #1 input.

And naturally this morning the entire Lexus Enform system was down. Even at 11AM, you're still not able to check some car stats on the app.
