Default Random thoughts on my new 350UL/Platinum

Hello all! This is my new ride and greetings to all the friendly folks here.

Thought i shall put on record few observations as i use the car.

Nightfall Mica
Low Noise wheels-18"--tire-B-T005a

For some background, am switching over from a Audi SQ7 and currently own a Infiniti Q70S and an old 2008 Volvo XC90.
Based in the UAE the UL trim here is sold as the 'Platinum' trim and come standard with

-Panoramic roof
-Rear seat package
-Bootlid spoiler
-HUD
-Illuminated door sills-but no illuminated truck sill.
-'Lexus' branded puddle lights.
-Low noise wheels
-Mark Levinson Sound system
-Privacy blinds in the rear.
There were no options to choose for on this Trim from the dealer-for which there is only one in the whole of the country.

Here is what i observed as i used the car over the past 10 days or so.

Weird formatting error in the owner's manual

Ambient lighting is very subtle

Exposed steering column screw-looks unsightly

Fonts in the temp display and the dash icons-match!

Felt lined interior door pull-nice.

The car has been the quietest car i have owned over the many i have owned. The ride is exemplary and special compliments to the rear suspension setup. More than enough power for the occasional 'boy racer' drives
There are few updates planned-shall keep posted.

Puddle and Sill illumination is standard in this region

Current setup-plan to get a iphone SE-cram into the cup-holder and see if the same can be closed.

The nail guard behind the door pulls looks lower in quality, there is an ambient throw light in the same--something is in the works for a fix

What are the two blanked out buttons for?

I like how the cars in your region does not even bother with the heated seats and steering wheel lol.
Rear seat control looks nice, definitely don't have that in the NA markets. Puddle illumination is nice to have for sure.
Those two empty buttons bother me too, maybe one of them is for rear fog lights in markets that have them....? Maybe the one is reserved for hybrids to cancel the low speed audible sound in markets that allow them? IDK..pure guesses...

It seems like your interior is the Chateau interior color as well, I'm wondering does the cars in your market have the slightly different colored dashboard to the left and right side of the steering wheel on the Chateau interiors?

I thought my car had an issue from the factory, but then apparently that's the way it's supposed to be, which I found to be weird.

Had planned to do some interior trim add-ons, got the first item delivered yesterday.

It's an 'actual' Carbon Fiber trim for the hand rest area which i think is a little bland.

Its very light weight and sturdy at the same time-guess that means it should be the actual weave-am pretty convinced-your thoughts appreciated.

The installation is a breeze and the provided 3M stickers are quite upto the job. Heating the adhesive pre-install helps.

These parts usually aren't complete/solid carbon fiber. They take a stock part and put carbon fiber over the top. I've purchased numerous items from various manufacturers and put them on my C7 Vette and have never had any issues. Look nice.

That may be the way the light is hitting it in the pic.

Unhappy Lloyd Mats.

So having sat in a Continental GT with Sheepskin pile carpets a few years ago, i made it a point to get the same for the next new car purchased. The search for the same led me to Lloyd mats, specifically their 'LUXE' range.
The Sheepskin was off the table because of availability and also due to the exorbitant shipping cost to my place of residence(which was almost as much at the USD 1400/-).

The LUXE range was the closest pile length wise to the Sheepskins.

The Lloyd mat is the one on the bottom and is thicker.

Even if the Lloyd mats are thicker the pile length of the OEM Lexus mats are longer.

The replacement mats does not have the central tunnel piece so its a 4 unit replacement compared to the 5 unit OEM ones.

The fit of the Lloyd mats are better than the OEM one-go figure!

The total cost of the mats online was 139USD- for me with shipping it was 275USD.

Would i buy the mats for another vehicle? Maybe Not. The main aim was to preserve the original mats.

Because of the 'Charcol' color compared to the 'Black' OEM the footwell lights appear bright and gives a slight glow which looks nice.

The Lloyd mats have 'Lifetime Warranty'.
