Not happy with the final result. Entire hood painted to match and fenders blended. The job was sloppy on the bumper itself. Lots of rough edges. Attached pictures
All in for $7600 and change It is hard for me to tell from the pictures how much of what I'm seeing is the result of lighting, shadows, reflections, etc. and how much is the result of sloppy paint work, but your insurance policy entitles you to have the car repaired to its "pre-accident condition". If it hasn't been repaired to that pre-accident condition, you should certainly complain to your insurance company and insist on having the paint work re-done, preferably by a different shop that is more competent. Situations like this are ones for which there is benefit to having had an insurance agent with whom you have built up a relationship with over an extended period of time because such an agent should be able to step up and provide assistance in getting the work properly done. |
That's terrible workmanship. I would not accept it back in that condition.

I would make them redo it till it is perfect. That is not acceptable!

Disheartening to say the least. Makes you want to trade it and buy another car... Blending is extremely difficult to do and have a perfect job...

I would absolutely take it back...

As I said in my previous post, I would be complaining and wanting the paint work to be properly re-done, but I would not trust the same shop to be re-doing the work. When paint work is done, if the paint has not had enough time to properly cure, just adding more new paint can, even if it looks good in the short term, lead to problems down the road with paint cracking.
That is why, in my earlier post, I suggested, instead of complaining to the shop that did the work, working with your insurance company and letting them know that the paint work was not properly done and that it needs to be re-done by a different and more competent shop. The insurance company should agree to have the work done by a different shop that will properly prepare the surface, which will include removing the paint that was applied by the first shop, and do a proper job of matching and blending the new paint. Also note that, each time the paint work is re-done, the blending will have to go back further into adjacent panels, which is all the more reason why you don't want to give the same shop another chance to botch the job. |

Most definitely take it back and have the insurance company make it right. I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this.

Advice is spot-on! |
Don't let the insurance company tell you where to get your car repaired. That was your first mistake.
Find out the best body shop(s) in your area and tell the insurance company that's where you're going to take it. If your insurance company refuses, then you picked the wrong insurance company. |

I noticed that when both of my cars were in the shop at the same time. My Pacifica had the hood repainted as a warranty job and the hatch replaced and the rear bumper repainted at the same time my LS460 had the rear bumper repainted. LS at the best most expensive shop in town. Pacifica at the dealers shop. It took 2 weeks to get the LS into the shop, and 2 weeks for the job to be done, and this was just a bumper cover. The Pacifica was in the next day, and done in 5 days with way more work being done. The difference in the quality of the work is obvious to me. The van job was better than that job on the OP's ES though. |
Definitely take it back.

Update total cost has been adjusted to $9600 and change including my deductible. I wish this car was gone.
