CarPlay, Google Maps & Lexus Navigation Questions
Me, too. I discovered last weekend that when you cross a state line, it say's "welcome to ...." whatever state you entered. Waze does, too.
I decided to use Waze on Apple CarPlay for my 800 mile trip to Wyoming and South Dakota. It worked pretty well, except for places I would expect poor reception. I was also listening to music on Tidal, and it kept stopping when I was guessing poor reception. I switched to Off Line mode, but it didn't stop stopping. Then it just came back in some apparently random period of time. I'm not sure how it works, but that surprised me. On the way home, Tidal stopped at one point, and never came back. That's when I discovered CarPlay was gone too,so I tried the Lexus Nav (it worked). That stopped Waze navigation, and I couldn't restart navigating. It kept telling me (for almost 2 hours) that I had no internet connection, but I had a strong signal several times. I eventually unplugged my phone (stopping CarPlay) and closed out of Waze completely. When I restarted both, everything worked normally and I was able to navigate the rest of the way home..
It just seems flaky and not 100% reliable. It may have something to do with what I'm trying to use it, but there is no one you can ask. I can't tell if it's a Lexus issue, an Apple issue, or a Tidal issue. It doesn't help that the issues seem intermittent.

I'm having an issue where music does not lower itself regardless of where it's playing from when I use Apple car play in conjunction with waze or similar app for navigation.
This must be a feature exclusive to the new ES because I looked into the detailed nav settings on my '17 IS200t and there wasn't any setting for that. I did turn on pop up notifications but the system didn't say anything when I crossed the state line.
When you used Apple car play and listened to music did you notice if the music playing lowered it self with a voice prompt played during use of waze or maps via car play?

I'll also comment that as I use CarPlay more often, I'm learning how to move around (it's still a little slow), and do things I thought I couldn't do. Last night I discovered that I can move back and forth between native apps (audio screens, etc) and ACP pretty seamlessly. I even went to the nav screen to check the software version, and back to Waze on ACP without any interruption. I may have judged ACP to soon.

Yes I do have factory nav. I like it when the directions show up on my HUD, but I prefer Waze for rerouting around traffic. I'm also experimenting with Apple Maps, as I heard it has been significantly improved. It seems pretty good, except I still like Waze for traffic.

I just returned from the local Lexus dealership to update the annoying freeway exits. My 2019 ES 300h split-screen navigation would pop up with the freeway exits upon entering the highway, and then when existing a highway, would not return to the original choice(s) selected. FINALLY, the freeway exits being turned off allows me to sit back and enjoy a wonderful car instead of constantly re-entering what I had chosen to begin with. Had it not been for this forum, I would have never gotten this valuable piece of information. Even Eskridge Lexus in Oklahoma City was not aware of this USB stick update until I showed them this. THANK YOU!!!!
While there are some updates there (none for the non-nav and one from back in April for the nav), the impression I got is that the specific updates mentioned in this thread weren’t posted to the site, but perhaps I am wrong and the old April update is the one that was mentioned here.
