ES300h High Beam Sensitivity

My 2024 ES 300h (premium build) is a treat to drive, night or day. Doing more nighttime driving in recent weeks, I’m noticing the automatic high beam sensitivity, as programmed at the factory, is far too sensitive - the beams are hardly cutting in, even in somewhat remote locations. I’m following the owners manual somewhat-confusing guidance on how to reduce sensitivity, with no success at all. Hoping someone can shed some (high beam!) light on this subject. Very distressing experiences at the dealership service department so far don’t wanna go there. Far better counsel from fellow ES owners on Club Lexus! Thank you, friends!

Northside Lexus's Melissa O'Connell has just put out a new "Lexus Multimedia System Deep Dive Tutorial for cars with Lexus Interface" video which amongst all the items includes discussing the auto headlight sensitivity setting control starting at the 1:55:17 time mark.

P.S. Melissa is using a 2024 Lexus GX for her tutorial demonstration. While there are some Lexus Interface differences between a 2024 Lexus GX and a 2024 Lexus ES, the auto headlight sensitivity setting control is the same and is located in the same place in the menu hierarchy: Settings (the gear icon on the left side menu list) -> Vehicle customize -> Lights -> Auto on sensitivity -> then from the Sensitivity list tap the radio button to set the desired level of sensitivity.

He’s talking about the high beam or AHS camera sensitivity, not the low beam on/off sensor sensitivity.

That cannot be changed.

While the windshield wipers do cross and clean the windshield over the forward-facing sensor
to trigger the Auto High Beams (and all the Lexus Safety System stuff), when the sensor does
get obscured it acts the opposite way than Rocketman295's symptom. When it sees less light
it reacts by turning on the High Beams sooner and longer, not less.

ES Auto High Beam

Attached is the TIS page on our High Beam system. Further search shows all the
custom parameters that the Tech Tool can modify, how dark to trigger low beams on/off,
how long the low beams (and all marker lights) stay on when it gets brighter out, etc..
Zero reference to the high beam trigger thresholds, up or down. No owner or Dealer
settings available. Anyone with Carista App experience?

I have Carista and no option is available to control High Beams. Only option is for normal auto headlights activation.

Only thing I found was the bit about temporarily reducing the high beam trigger sensitivity. I presume this only lasts until the next off/on ignition cycle. P. 160 of the manual.

Ditto on the Carista comment. If it isn’t listed as a dealer programmable then it’s unlikely to be Carista accessible.
