What is "Illuminated Entry" programming ?

In reviewing the Maintenance Schedule for my 2025 Lexus ES350, I came across the following verbiage at a dealers website.

"We’ll also program your Lexus personalized settings at this interval if you want some help with that.
These settings can include automatic door locks, power windows, and even if you would like an illuminated entry."

I'm not sure what this means and what options there are. Where are the settings for this and what does it include?

The interior lights come on as you approach if you're holding the key fob. Also, the outside rear view mirrors will illuminate. You can activate this or leave it dormant.

Ok thanks. -- I just tried this on my car and it does work, so it has been set. It even works with the Credit Card Key in my pocket. I looked for the settings, but cannot find them.

Do you know where the settings are for this?

I believe some settings are only accessible using Techstream or another dealer-only tool/software. I assume they would give you a list of the the available options/values to choose from.

There are other aftermarket tools that can do similar (Carista, etc) if you want to DIY it, but Im guessing these are mostly "set and forget" type things that you wouldn't change much (if at all) anyway.

You can view a complete list of features that can be programmed by the in-car buttons, or by use of an OBD adaptor, or by the remote touch controller by reading your manual. You’ll find it listed in the index as “Customization”.

During your first complementary service at 6-months/5,000 miles, there's a "Programmable by Dealer" list of personalized seatings that you can have the dealer make settings changes if so desired at no charge. As Tootsall mentioned, most but not all customizable settings by either your or the dealer are listed in the "8-2. Customization" subchapter of the Owner's Manual for your ES model year and model type.

There is (or at least supposed to be) a downloadable ES 350/300h/300h F Lexus Personalized Settings pdf form that contains the complete list of customizable settings. Suggest you download a copy; mark it up with any settings changes from the defaults you want the dealer to make; and then hand the marked up form to the service adviser to hopefully eliminate any miscommunication as to exactly the changes you want made.

You should be able to download that form as well as all the manuals and warranty and service guide for your ES from the My Lexus Resources website. However, for some reason, the 2025 version of the ES 350/300h/300h F Lexus Personalized Settings pdf form doesn't get a download link generated for it when you submit a 2025 ES model type on My Lexus Resources. While submitting a 2024 ES model type will get a Lexus Personalized Settings pdf form download link generated, the generated link is malformed using %20 (coding for space) in a couple of places where a URL that works uses _ instead of %20. The corrected link for downloading the 2024 version is 2024 ES 350/300h/300h F Lexus Personalized Settings.

The generated download links for the ES 350/300h/300h F Lexus Personalized Settings pdf form for model year 2023 and earlier are correctly generated.

In regards to illuminated entry settings, if you download the Lexus Personalized Settings form and look near the beginning of the "Programmable by Dealer" section, you'll find several settings related to illuminated entry. They are:

4. Illumination of the Interior Cabin Light when Approaching the Vehicle
5. Illumination of the Interior Cabin Light when Unlocking Door
7. Illumination of the Outer Foot Lights when Approaching the Vehicle
8. Illumination of the Outer Foot Lights when Unlocking Door

In case you aren't aware of what they are, "Outer Foot Lights" are LEDs embedded/mounted on the bottom side of each of the door handles that, when turned on, illuminate the door handle's location and the ground below each door handle. Really convenient in locating door handles and seeing what the ground looks like when approaching your ES at night when it is pitch black.

You'll also see "Programmable by Dealer" items 24 through 28 settings controlling whether or not there's a "Seat Belt Reminder" "When the vehicle reaches 12 mph". Some, possibly all, dealers won't change those settings from the default On setting. If you want any of those settings turned off, you can/should still request the change, but don't be surprised if the dealer won't make the change for you.

I had the feature to open all the windows and sunroof with electronic key option turned on at my 6 month visit. Lexus makes you work for it to open everything though. You have to press the unlock button three times and hold the third press before the windows and sunroof open. Every other brand I have owned just required you to press and hold the unlock button for a few seconds.

ON my 2024 and 2025 ES 350 the windows and roof will open with 1 push and hold of the open button.
The auto start works with 3 presses of the lock button and hold on the third to fire up.

I have a 2025 ES300h and just tried one press and holding the unlock button. It worked! I just believed the Service Advisor after the setting was changed. He said three presses and hold the third one. Go figure.

Remote Window Roll Down used to be defaulted On but folks that didn't know of it were inadvertently
and unexpectedly pressing the fob unlock button and opening up the car during a rain/snow storm...
Now you gotta know enough to ask for and how to use the feature.
