Mass air flow sensor cleaning

I used to clean Mass air flow sensors (the old styles).
I don't know what the deal with them in newer cars.
Would it damage the mass air flow sensor if I cleaned it with mass air flow sensor cleaner like this guy did?
This is the part number 22204-75040.

That's how I cleaned mine about 2 years ago with the same cleaner and my car didn't explode. Didn't use anywhere close to how much cleaner the guy in the video used though.

I've cleaned mine twice in the 110k miles I've owned the car, both times with CRC electronic cleaner. Seemed to work fine. Didn't change anything noticeable, but didn't cause any harm.

Thanks confirming.
I just did mine and it seems fine too :)
How about the throttle body? I tried pressing the accelerator when the engine is off but the butterfy isn't moving. Wasn't sure if i will damage the calibration if I manially open it.

Cleaned mine a few months back and no issues at all.

Does the throttle butterfly open when you hit the accelerator with the iginition ON but engine isn't running?

Don't know about the ES but my old GS was drive by wire so the throttle is actuated by a small motor. Suspect the ES is the same. I would routinely push the throttle open on my GS (and other similar cars) to spray cleaner down the vlave body.

I also cleaned my throttle when I did my MAF sensor. Didn't do this but I just slowly pushed the flap open and kept it open with 1 hand while I cleaned. I know you're not supposed to do this but figured should be fine if it's just once.

Which way does the flap move? do you push the bottom or the top part of the flap?
When I tried to push mine it had a little resistance so I didn't want to force it.

It's been a while but I think(??????) you push in from bottom and the top folds out.

Found this throttle body cleaning video for a RX and it pushes in from bottom for that.

CCN has an interesting video about MAF. He recommends checking specs before cleaning, and apparently he don't recommend cleaning the new ones; though I'm not sure which one the ES uses.
Here's the video starting from the tips at 13:10

Replace the filter every 20,000 miles and don’t mind cleaning the MAF.

I have used the CRC Cleaner over the life of all 3 of my Lexus vehicles. When I lived in Mexico City with my RX300 (over 6 years), that MAF got very dirty and I always kept a can of that cleaner in the car. Never an issue with that or others who used it.

I replace the engine air filter every 2 years or so, do I need to clean the Mass air flow sensor or not really, what's the benefit :D?
