Dent Repair Feedback

I have a ES350 Ultra Luxury edition. There's a small dent/crease on the rear panel just above the back right passenger tire. I've gotten two estimates both from Lexus body shops. One for $2800 and the other for $9000. The second person claims that they have to take the sliding glass roof out the first one didn't mentioned that it had to be done. Any feedback back would be appreciated.

Try one of those "paintless" or "dentless" repair places. That dent looks like it could be massaged out without removing anything but the tire and the fender liner. Check some Youtube videos on how they do it so you know what might be involved.

Why not go to a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) Shop and see if they could take care of it or not — personally, it looks like they can from your pics.

I’ve seen work done by a PDR shop and you’d never know there was even a dent.

Plus, it costs way less than the quotes you got so I’d definitely see one before going the other route.

EDIT: Forgot to say to @jcagame — Welcome to CL and your first post :woot:

and Hahaha to @ESh’s post below 🤣 ⬇️

PDR, a couple of hundred bucks.
I would punch the $9000 guy.

I had a dent like that once in an SC. I asked at the dealership while I was there for service, and they said to come back on Tuesday (?), as that's when the dent repair guy visits. He did a great job, at a reasonable expense, and it was pretty convenient. Surely they only invite specialists like this to the premises who are qualified and experienced.

PDR quality varies. I would contact a Highline Dealership in your area and ask them who they recommend or use.

First, those quotes, wtf.
Second, why in the world would the sunroof glass need to be removed?

Now, I second the idea of contacting your dealer. They all have partnerships with a local dent repair/bodyshop. I had one much worse than yours and went this route. Kind of took the guessing & research off my plate, believing that partnership was an automatic vetting qualifier. In my case, it worked out great. Dealer handled the logistics, the repair was perfect, and the whole thing was under $1,000.

They forgot to tell you that engine needs to be removed as well to fix that dent to access the bolts that hold that panel.
Anyhow.
Screw the first two guys.
If the paint isn't peeling off, try reputable paintless dent repair guys. They do good job.

If the ding did not crack the paint, then the dent repair guys can fix it pretty inexpensively. It's my understanding that if the paint is cracked, then the best repair requires the body shop. It's a little hard to tell from the photo if the paint is cracked or not, but could you elaborate a bit on the involvement of the sun roof?

if that panel has access right behind the dent, then it should be fairly easy to knock out. if not, it still may be possible but may require more work (hours) either way cheaper than the 9k. update with pics if you get it fixed.

How did you go with this? Did you end up getting it fixed?

"I know you came in for a haircut but we're also going to need for you to get naked too."

How much did the PDR end up costing and roughly how long did it take? always wondered
