I am shocked there are no mules/prototypes on the roads. Maybe they are using the current gen for testing without any visual changes.

Maybe after all this speculation, multiple threads etc, the ES is being discontinued. Wouldn't that be something!

ESh Mar 15, 2025 04:22 PM

Why they would discontinue the most successful sedan?

Testing is done at their new private Shimoyama track. They don’t need to take them on public roads.

Once they have done the announcement, they will take a few on public roads to do any last minute tuning. As there are a few months before the first production runs are finalised.

Shimoyama is sick. I would like to spend there a couple of days.

I was being facetious of course but there has been so much speculation for years now, how ironic would it be!!!!

Has anyone w a ES300h looked at the Toyota Crown, and if so how did it compare?

I did look at the Toyota Crown. It seemed to me to be a comparable car to look at. Similar price and also a hybrid.

It is slightly raised up. Which many like. I did not. I also didn't like the styling of it. It felt very "manly" and not really as classy as I would like. Also, it was the first year of the model, which I was concerned about. I live in a large metropolitan area. You see very few of these. My friends who know Toyota have told me salse of the crown are disappointing.

Lexus gives a longer warranty. The ES is a proven model. And to be honest, it is a lexus over a toyota. It just didn't sway me.

I saw a second Crown yesterday. I immediately thought of Mike! Combined, Mike and I have seen three Crowns since launch.

I still think it's pretty cool looking. I like the jacked nature. But Toyota thought people would be flocking to them. Toyota makes weird decisions. They seem confused in the US market. They need to choose a few models and just stick to them. People like name recognition.

I've also seen maybe 3 Corolla Crosses.

Have seen zero of the new modern Toyota crossover... i don't even know what it's called. the fancy looking one. looks like a venza. that's how bad the name recognition/marketing/reception has been to all these new models toyota is belting out. i don't even know what its called. Insight or something?

Toyota does a decent job of differentiating the Lexus brand.

Those three Crowns may just be a large % of the total ever built:) There is a new Crown Signia which looks more like a Volvo wagon - that model may do better.

I considered the Crown. A few things stopped me from seriously considering it. By the time you add options to it the cost is the same as the ES300h. So you are paying Lexus money for a Toyota.

The other thing I did not like was certain models and trims come with 21 inch wheels. I checked on replacing those tires and there was only one manufacturer that made them at the time I checked. I just rechecked and now there are two.
