I don't understand why they hate the ES for being "boring".
I bought my ES because it was boring. On my way from work, I do NOT want to feel bumps on the road. I want the seats to be COMFY, not breaking my back. I don't want to hear road noise. I do not want road feel. I want road isolation. I love the softer suspension because I don't want to feel the bumps on the road.

I want mechanical linkages to the transmission and door handles. I want a real spare tire. I want a V6 engine. If I want a car with great road feel, I'd get a BMW.

I'm so tired of people who do NOT buy the car, constantly giving their opinion as if it mattered. Many ES drivers are former Buick, Avalon, Oldsmobile and Crown Victoria drivers. I don't want a crossover. I want a big sedan that's comfy and balls so when you stomp on the gas, it GOES.

That's because it's self-conscious and it's crying.

Another thing I love about the ES 350 is no start stop technology. Thank you Toyota!

Got that on mine (non hybrid 250).
I turn that off everytime I got in.
I don't know what I will do once that button stops working.

I saw the running mascara on a Subaru this morning. This might be one of those design trends that we often see duplicated/stolen among car brands.
Gross.

I remember in the 80s manufacturers were cutting costs so much that they only put one side mirror and black, non body matched, paint on the front and rear bumpers.

Toyota does own a certain percentage of Subaru.

I haven't bothered to look into it, but initially I thought the next ES would be based off of the Crown. I wonder how much similarity there is. At minimum, both are "jacked" sedans. I think both are GA-K too. I wonder if these cars share platforms with the Japanese crown or what the exact relationship is between all three.

Similar short front doors, similar quarter glass, similar sloping rear end.

The front door is too small - doesn't convey luxury. The 6ES has much better door proportions.

I guess I'll need to see it in the flesh next year. I'm one of the few that is still not hating it.

6ES is a classic classy design. i've thought about it and if I had to get a cheap car in cash that i can also live with or a second car, it would be a 6ES 300h or maybe a 350 as the 300h of that era wasn't that efficient. but i would try and get a 16+ model. I think 2016 was when Lexus hit its peak when aesthetic design, materials quality, build quality all perfectly came together. I had two 2016 Lexuses brand new, CT200h and IS200t and both were immaculate, perfect.

From the videos it's best in orange. but you have to kind of squint. it definitely is "designy" for the sake of being designy. doesn't seem to have any purpose or philosophy behind the lines. like AI designed it when prompted "design me something modern!"

I think it looks much better in the videos than in still pictures. I also am willing to wait and see.

However, the added size in all directions is pretty much a deal breaker for me. The added size is needed for the EV, but not for the HEV. Since I would consider the HEV, I'm asking myself why would I buy a car with all that added size? The HEV doesn't need the extra size. I would be paying $60K for a car that's not optimized for its drivetrain.

Yeah the copper would have to grow on me and the white seats while they look okay when new, I can't imagine how they will age. But you can answer that - you have white seats in the T?

Depending on your context, those cars still aren't all that cheap. Their legendary reliability and value is not exactly a secret, and they've held their value accordingly.
