If you have Carista or Techstream, you can do that.

It's in the customizable settings in your car. I don't know if dealer only or you can change it. I just leave mine up all the time since new... Never moves.
"Programmable by Dealer 12 The rear sunshade automatically lowers when the shift lever is shifted into Reverse. Off On (Default) 13 Rear Sunshade Reverse Timer When option #12 is on, the rear sunshade will automatically lower in: 0.7 seconds (Default) 1.2 seconds 0.9 seconds 0 seconds" I tried out the rear sunshade once when I got the car and have never felt the need to raise it since then. My free six-month service is in a couple weeks, so I have read the 7-page list of possible changes. I have no changes for the dealer to make. |
I've had my car for a year now, and the only time I use the rear sunshade is to show my friends that my car has an extra neat gadget.
They always seem impressed. |
Another annoyance is having to reset the radar after every start up. There's got to be a setting.
|
I use the rear sunshade all summer to help keep interior temperatures a bit lower when parked in the sun. Hardly notice it after a while.

Roughly $50 if you shop smart. But then you also have the device to keep in case you ever need it again.
I paid $151 + tax for this one in October on Amazon. I think I saw a thread on CL that recommended it. They want more now. It downloaded the Toyota/Lexus files/updates after I got it. It should work on either brand cars. But I have not had a need to plug it into my Lexus yet. 2025 LAUNCH Creader Elite V2.0 fit for Toyota Lexus Bi-Directional Scan Tool, Full System OBD2 Scanner, All Reset Service Code Reader, AUTOVIN, ECU Coding, Battery Registration, Lifetime Free Update |

I did just this with techstream from ebay. very easy as an option. I also disabled the seatbelt annoying noise. now the light blinks.. Finally I changed the left and right turn signal number of clicks before it goes off to I think 5.
Highly recommended to OP. |

Is it possible to reset every thing to factory if I decide to sell? Turning off the seat belt alarm would be nice. I can't undo the belt going to the garage without it driving me crazy. Nannies everywhere. |

If so, my best bet is the Carista App + Adapter. Right now the adapter is $56 with 30% off on Amazon ( ). Amazon has a good return policy in case it does not work for you as expected. The ODB2 adapter is open and compatible not only with the free Carista app but also with many other third-party apps on both Android and iOS. Just be aware that although the Carista App is free to download, it's use is tied to a subscription based model. So in order to customize you will have to subscribe to a 1-month, 3-mo or 12-mo plan. I'd recommend you try the 12-mo plan ($30/yr) so you have a full year to familiarize with settings and features. Grand total will be around $86 for a 1yr of costumizations; and probably cheaper than a trip to the dealer + charges if any. Also, I know for fact that most dealers will not disable the seat-belt dings citing safety reasons; although it's available as a Personalization Setting. The process is very easy: just connect the ODB2 adapter to the car, pair the adapter to your phone (via Bluetooth), and launch the Carista APP to start customizing settings. You can view all the possible settings at: https://carista.com/en/supported-cars/lexus/es/7th-gen |
