How do you save pre-sets while replacing your battery? You can buy various devices or use a spare battery…some say you can use a charger. I would like to save pre-sets but I do not want to fry my electronics. Thanks.

I don't know of any device to save settings. But you can use a battery tender like the OptiMate1 and connect the clamps to the car's battery terminal cables before disconnecting the old battery. The tender must be plugged in to the wall before disconnecting the old battery and you must not remove the tender until the new battery is connected. DO NOT start the car or accessories during the replacement (only tender connected). Once the new battery is securely connected you can remove the tender.
A good tender should not fry any electronics; and as far as I know this is the recommended procedure to prevent losing any settings based on other members/posts.

I think SCUBA's advice is sound. Once I tried one of those savers which connected a 9v battery through the socket that we used to call a cigarette lighter. That battery died long before I got the car battery replaced. With the purchase of a nice charger, I saw in the instruction book how to use the charger to keep car settings while changing a battery. I also think that the little auto jump chargers (like a Wolf Box) (everyone should have one of these in the car all the time) can also be used to save settings (but I'm not sure about that).
But I would stay away from those little battery devices and just use chargers and battery tenders.

Be aware that the accessory socket (politically correct name of the legacy cigarette lighter

is only powered when the ignition is on. Some other Makes including GM vehicles keep the
sockets hot without the key on. It is not generally good shade tree mechanics to change the
battery with the key circuit on.
The tender method works as does using a couple of light gauge jumper wires with alligator clips.
Connect the jumpers to the new battery and disconnect the old. Challenge to install the new
