PCS (pre-collision system)
Nothing short of taking full control of your car will satisfy the manufacturers.
You have a backup camera that comes on when you back up.
That's not enough.
Your steering wheel vibrates when there is movement behind you.
That's not enough.
You are alerted by beeps when there is movement behind you.
That's not enough.
Your brakes are slammed down when there is movement behind you.

Mine (2025 ES350) has only activated a couple of times and each time in response to something moving behind me. I am thankful for it as anything to help prevent me backing into a vehicle or pedestrian i appreciate. I would be curious as to the nature of the "injury" as i have no idea how one could be injured by braking when backing just a few MPH. Mine has (as all) fairly aggressive forward leaning headrests that should stop any back head snap which would be pretty minor at low speed.

Agree, the feature is very useful, innovative, and could potentially prevent accidents. I definitely wouldn’t recommend disabling it permanently. Your HDTV analogy is very good.
That said, there are scenarios where the feature might actually introduce risk IMHO, especially when timing is critical. In those cases, a quick toggle would be extremely helpful.
I posted a video in another thread where holding the VSC for 3 seconds might temporarily disable the feature. I haven’t tested it myself yet, but if it works, and pressing it again reactivates it; it could serve as an excellent workaround.

Some great deals here🤣
The inflation rate is the lowest it’s been since 2020.
Amen! Just imagine getting a loaded LS at an ES price tag.
Edit: In the world of computers and electronics, newer models typically offer better performance and features at the same price point as the ones they replace. Meanwhile, car prices seem completely out of hand regardless of inflation. And let’s not even open the can of worms that is the current housing market. But that’s a whole other thread...
