Chipped shark fin housing

Two months ago, after arriving home from the dealership--150 miles from where I live--in my newly-purchased 2019 ES350, I noticed that the base of the plastic shark fin housing was chipped on one side. The dealer ordered a replacement, including a new antenna, and shipped it to me. If the antenna was damaged, it's not evident to me. Water damage is not an issue because, weirdly, it has not rained here since I bought the car and I have not had it washed. So my question is: Can I get away with just replacing the housing, or is it best to

replace the antenna as well? If the latter, I should probably have the local dealership do it (the dealer who sold me the car said they would pay for it, though he's waffling a bit on that now).

You should definitely replace it. Especially since you have a new antenna. That area up on the roof is always going to be vulnerable for leaks from rain, snow or melting ice, washing the car etc.

In looking over the lexusguide.net Lexus ES (XZ10) Service Manual's Roof Antenna - Removal and Roof Antenna - Installation procedures there are different procedures for roof antennas for moon and panoramic roofs. Only the moon roof's roof antenna procedures have procedures specific to reusing the telephone antenna assembly; whereas, the panoramic roof procedures do not.

That is no "chip". That is a straight up broken antenna.

Appreciate the replies

The replies so far are sufficient for me to have the Lexus folks remove and replace the shark fin housing and antenna. Thank you all!
