Wiring diagram for just power window switch??
There are 5 wires to each passenger side power window switch. Does anyone know which colors are power & ground off-hand?
EDIT: I updated the wires with their known position in the harness/connector We have: - grey - 2 UNKNOWN (illumination?) - lavender with red stripe - 4 DOWN - lavender with white stripe - 5 UP - white with black stripe - 7 GROUND - lavender with green stripe - 8 AUTO for RF switch. I'm going to *guess* that the red stripe is power and black stripe is ground. Can do testing myself of course but wondering if anyone knows for sure. RR door has: - green wire - 2 UNKNOWN (illumination?) - lavender with red stripe - 4 DOWN - lavender with black stripe - 5 UP - white with black stripe - 7 GROUND - lavender wire - 8 AUTO My plan is to use that power to power my ambient lights in place of using the stock ambient wire power. |

Thanks for the links. From my reading it appears the white with black stripes are indeed ground wires but I'm not sure there is a 12V ignition wire. There is one wire on each connection that is not accounted for (pin 2 green on RR and pin 2 grey on RF). The diagram that shows the LIN communication line doesn't specify which wire it is on the switches, just the regulators. Hmm....
EDIT: I just realized that unknown wire must be for illumination! I should bookmark that link. |
It looks like I might need to find a different wire in the door that provides 12V accessory power...

If there's enough ampere margin in the fuse for the power window circuit then you might be able to to tap into each power window circuit's auxiliary battery power line and use a voltage controlled switch to control suppling power to your custom ambient lighting. Tap into the OEM ambient lighting circuit on each door for the voltage that will turn the switch on or off. (There's various types of voltage controlled switches. The type I think you need is one that is a binary full on or full off type that switches at a predetermined threshold voltage. With something like that, your custom ambient lighting will have an unrestricted power supply when the dash illumination and OEM ambient lighting has been turned on/up to a sufficient level to trigger the voltage controlled switches.) |

In looking again, I think pin 8 on RF it may be lavender with a green stripe. I am a touch colorblind moreso with brown-beige type colors.
