Pretty standard, they used to call these toll booth change holders. You know, back before electronic toll tags were a thing and toll roads were cheap.
I keep change and a small pocket knife and fingernail trimmers in there. It doesn’t rattle. If you leave it open it’ll destroy your knee when you get back in the car.
If I did that, I'd line that thing with sticky-back felt right now (which I did for the phone slot). The last thiing you want in a quiet car is coins rattling around in a plastic box.
That’s exactly what I did, lined it so it’s quiet. I use it to hold the remote to my entry gate as the unit is just old enough it won’t connect to the HomeLink buttons. Very handy spot for it.
I usually get a pretty good stash of receipts in there and then when I wipe down the interior and hit the button, remember it's time to empty the compartment. Then I do it all over again
Funny Stoodo. Apparently, you and the previous owner of my ES have something in common. I found $40 in there and haven't had the need to touch it, yet.
Don’t laugh, but I never knew that a little compartment was built into the dash just above the driver’s left knee. I somehow bumped the release button today (a year-and-a-half purchasing) and the lil door opened. I initially thought it was access to a fuse box or scan tool connection but I think it’s just a small compartment. Anyone else not know about this??
won't hold a business card. best for tums and toothpicks!
