Default Windows remote close and open

Hello,
I'm a new one at this forum
Welcome everyone of the Lexus ES fans and owners. I'm from Poland but our lexus forums are pretty poor with tech information.
My first little problem and a question is :
Do you have a possibility of opening and closing the windows and perhaps the sunroof from the key ?
Did you get the feature with the car or the dealer service had to change that separately ?
Now we have winter it is not problem, but in summer that would be niece to open the windows remotely from the key

This information is in your owner's manual under personalization settings. I believe that the setting may be that you can open the sun roof and windows by remote - hold unlock button - but not close them by remote. GOOD LUCK...

EU models can also close windows if you press and hold the lock button.

It's all true - I got my dealership to enable this for me.

Sadly on my (UK) Premium Edition they were unable to set the door mirrors to fold-in on power-off or by remote which is what I really wanted.

I tried some times, not working. Suppose it should be switched in the service, as described in owners manual

Hi Polski, welcome to this forum.
The remote opening/closing by the keyfob is possible and works fine, but has to be activated by the dealership. Just drive to your dealer and ask them.
I wish you much nice and quiet kilometers with your ES!

Greetings from the Netherlands.

To be clear, you may enable Remote Window/Sunroof remote opening but you can Not enable remote Closing.
The openings have an Anti-Jam feature, when you lift and Release the switch to close and the glass encounters
and obstacle it will stop and reverse slightly. When you lift and Hold the switch is will continue to close with force.
When you remote open you are holding the fob unlock button until the windows/sunroof open as far as desired.
If you could hold the fob lock button to close you might be out of sight and inadvertently injure someone.

FYI, in Toyota products, the mechanical key in the fob, can be programmed by the dealer to either open and / or close all windows and the sunroof, just be putting it in the door lock and holding it to the lock or unlock position.

Is there a mechanical key available hidden in the ES FOB?

The inability to close the windows by remote for safety reasons makes sense. I know that it has been this way since at least the gen 6 cars here in America. I don't know about other countries but would assume that they would also prohibit remote closing of the windows for the same reasons that mcomer stated. Those owners in countries other than the U.S. i.e. The U.K., Poland, and The Netherlands, please let us know.

Hi, I can definitely open AND close the windows and sunroof of my ES by holding the open and close button on the keyfob. Just had to let it activated by the Lexus dealership. Here in the Netherlands, most modern cars have this feature, even my 1999 VW Passat had this!
Probably the regulations in the US prohibit the remote closing. Here it is allowed.

I've spent much time in Western Europe and this feature is just another indication of the stark philosophical differences between America and the continent... De Wallen in your country comes to mind...
