The Lexus ES interior is very very well built. Except for the panel in front of the screen which is hard scratchy plastic that is quite annoying.
Bought some vinyl film in suede finish and with the help of a hairdryer and extra pair of hands, managed to covered it all up. Now it looks and feels much better. As an added bonus, the suede materials helps to insulate the contact between the plastic panel eliminating and creaks.
I could have preferred a slightly darker shade of grey to match the interior. But a 2 tone effect works for me too.
Looks like you did a good job on this. However, I would want the entire surrounding panels to match. Also, Whatever material Toyota uses for the dash, the entire surface mars very easily from the glove box to the instruments... Many complaints, very poor...

I wasn't very sure if I could pull this off, so I bought a relatively cheap roll without too much consideration of the exact color match.
Now that I'm certain how this is all going to work out, I might redo it in a better matching color next time. This uses a base vinyl film, so it can be removed easily with no residues.

What is name of product and where did you purchase?
I had this same exact thought and was brainstorming how to execute it. I was thinking leather too but i think suede might be easier to work with. Is it reversible? I wonder how the glue will affect the panel long term. i guess worst case scenario you could repurchase that piece if you wanted to go back to stock.
Also btw you say hard scratchy plastic... ours in the US is a soft-ish textured grainy texture. i wonder if it's different in your country? is it just basic plastic, no texture? The glue may stick differently here if that's the case. I was looking at ours and thinking how would the glue stick.

It's textured as well, but it's hard and horrible plastic that mars easily. It's the exact same material (Albeit mirror imaged) in LHD markets.

The film is similar to the 3M Di Noc films, so absolutely no residue when you chose to remove it.
