Default Quick Poll: Android or Apple

With the discussion about Apple Car Play and Android Auto, I was curious to poll those following this sub forum. Please, no need to push your preferred phone/ecosystem nor any need to criticize other’s choices. Just a simple answer so we can all see what the ratio of Android to Apple phones looks like. Keep in mind, this isn’t even close to being scientific. This will only poll people that follow an automotive forum, so it will be heavily biased in favor of those owners that are enthusiasts and/or perhaps more technically inclined.

If you're only looking for owners of 7th gen ES's, you will have a pretty small sample size at this time.

Good point - but it will grow over time I suppose. Plus, there aren’t very many models offering this kind of integration yet so there isn’t a large pool to poll.

People are basically going to prefer whatever in their car their current phone operating system.

In the US at least currently roughly 63% uses iOS and 36% uses Android.

I guess it depends on who is conducting the survey. I just saw one that says Android is over 50% and Apple is around 30%. Worldwide it's Android by a wide margin...(75%)
I don't like Apple, the phone or the company...

Not me. I'm sticking with my Android. I would prefer the car support Android, but I would never choose a phone system based on what the car company offers - or vice versa. There are always workarounds so you can have your cake and eat it too. Frankly as soon as the new screen mirroring system comes out, The Lexus Nav system pales in comparison to Google Maps and Waze. I still use the audio from my phone for navigation through the bluetooth system. Looking at the map seems unnecessary when Google is telling you to turn left at the next light.

Here is some current data on US market share. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...united-states/ Overall, Apple lags behind. But there's an article where a Lexus spokesman says that 80% of Lexus drivers are Apple users. Don't know where he got his stats. But perhaps that's because they tend to be older.

I find it hard to believe that 80% of Lexus owners are iPhone users.

I agree that Google Maps is better than the Lexus (or really any) built in navigation. However, convenience is a big part of it. I don't want to have to constantly be looking down at my phone to look at the map for navigation and I HATE those windshield and air vent phone mounts. If a car has wireless Android Auto I'd use it. Otherwise it's the built in system.

Found it! I don't believe the guy either. I think he was talking off the cuff. https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/w...-android-auto/ I rarely look down at my phone either. If you pair your phone, the directions come over your Lexus bluetooth. It even partially mutes the music while doing it.

I just tipped the poll in favor of Apple. I've had 2 Androids and on my 3rd iPhone now. Prefer Apple for the integration with the rest of my household computers and electronic equipment.
