Trunk won't open
Hello, I'm new to the site. I take care of my wife 's. I take care of my wife's 20/20 ES 350 ultra luxury. The other day the battery died and I had to get into the trunk. So I pulled the emergency tab by using a pole and a hook. I got the trunk open. I then shut it after I jumped the car and took it down to get a new battery. Now the trunk won't open with any of the options that I know of which is the key fob and the button in the car by the steering wheel. I did not reset the emergency tab before I shut the trunk. So I'd like to know if I can get the trunk open somehow and then what to do to get everything working correctly. There are no codes thrown that I know of. Nothing is on the dashboard saying this problem. Can someone help me?

There is a manual key insert to open trunk. Probably don't know it is there because never use it.
|
Also do you have the hybrid which battery is in the trunk? If so there is a jump port under hood in fuse box driver side.
|
Not a hybrid.

I don't know about this specific model, but on many there is a valet button somewhere - under the dash or in the glove box - you can push to lock out the trunk pop feature.
Don't have time to search it up at the moment, but worth looking into that to make sure it isn't activated. |
With no battery use the mechanical key. This is from my 2020 manual

was going to say what Dave said. is it possible you pressed the valet button? open your glove box and should be on the left side of the compartment, so in the dash, not the box the opens, there should be a single button there. Try pressing that and see if that does the trick. If not, it could be a fuse?

The electric trunk latch on my 2018 ES stopped working and I had to use the key.
Dealer replaced under warranty. Said they have never seen that before. They asked if anything had gotten stuck in the latch when closing, which hadn’t happened. |
For the valet button think about it. It is electronic and there is a dead battery. Mechanical key is simple and for these situations. What you insert into is not electronic and is mechanical. Picture above shows exactly where it is from manual.

Mine wouldn’t open one day. I had inadvertently hit the valet button in the glovebox. As mentioned above.

Ok...I was under the impression that he still had a dead battery and the battery was in the trunk. I did ask him if it was a hybrid and said no and further looking the ES350 battery is under the hood which has nothing to do with the trunk. Guess I misunderstood the post and the rest of you didn't and correct in saying the trunk opener main switch is off.
