Default Fuel consumption bug

This photo shows two pictures of the dashboard that I took about one minute apart. They show the purported fuel consumption of my 2024 ES 300h in two different units, but they are nonsensical. If 50.2 mpg is correct, then the conversion ought to be 4.7 l/100 km, not 5.6. If 5.6 l/100is correct, then the conversion ought to be 42 mpg, not 50.2. How long as this bug been around?

I don't know anything about conversions, but I googled 50.2 mpg in l/100km and the result was 5.627?

The historical gallon used in Canada was/is the Imperial (UK) gallon which is approximately 20 % larger than the US gallon. 50.2 mpg (Imperial) converts to 5.627 l/100 km.

If you look on page 418 of the 2024 LEXUS ES300H OWNER'S MANUAL USA AND CANADA ONLY you'll see the units are customizable to one of miles (MPG) [US gallon], miles (MPG Imperial), km (km/L), or km (L/100 km). (There's a footnote stating the default setting varies according to country.)

You have two type of gallons, Imperial and US. They are not the same.

Like others above said. It's not a bug. You selected Imperial units and metric.

I found the cars fuel economy calculator to be accurate.

Canadians haven't used gallons for 45 years except when we drive to the US, where we use US gallons, so the dealer ought to have set the screen to show l/100km by default and US gallons as the alternative. The default gallon size is indeed where grp52 pointed out, but that screen's primary function is to set the current display and its use to set a default alternative is not documented. You need to the appropriate gallon there and then go to the toggle in the small display by the speedometer, and set it to l/100km.
