The 2016 and 2018 ES are probably 99%+ the same, but there are a couple of differences that come to mind.
First, the 2016 ES navigation system is a Generation 8 navigation system, and the 2018 (and 2017) ES comes with a Generation 9 navigation system. There are some significant improvements in the Generation 9 system, especially with regard to voice recognition capabilities.
Also, the 2017 and 2018 ES have the Safety + system, including high speed cruise control, auto braking, pedestrian detection, etc. as standard. For 2016, those were available as options.
There may be other differences, but those are two that come to mind.
