Default Check Engine/ Trac Off

Today I was driving down the road nothing wrong with my 2013 ES350 until I stopped at the gas station to fill up my car. After filling it up I turn it on and the car is not responding when I put my foot on the pedal, seconds later the check engine light came on and a warning message saying TRAC OFF came on. At first I thought maybe I put the gas cap on wrong after fidgeting with the gas door 5 times it was no use. The cars been towed and I’m waiting to hear back from the dealership. Anybody have any idea as to what’s going on?

Found this on a Toyota driver's resources web site; Check out the link... Has to do with traction control and VSC - vehicle stability control. You can defeat the disablement - and drive away - by turning off the Traction control and VSC according to the article. Don't understand why yours would engage if you weren't stuck in mud or snow though.

Traction control didn't engage. In Toyota/Lexus products, when a code is thrown by the ECU, the CEL (Check Engine Light) comes on and disables Traction/VSC. Therefore, the TRAC off light appear.

OP, there are far too many possibilities in regards to why the CEL came on. The dealer will use an OBDII reader to read the codes and troubleshoot further. You can also read these codes with a cheap OBDII reader from Amazon, or running to a local parts store as they'll scan for free.
