We’ll probably know at the end of the month. Toyota will likely show several redesigned car models at the NY Auto Show.

Assuming CarPlay is included in base, its intoduction may cannibalize sales of Nav options. I am not sure it makes sense to pay for Lexus’ mediocre navigation system if one has access to an alternative (and likely better) product - for free. Of course on the other hand Toyota can’t just continue ignoring CarPlay and Android Auto since just about every other manufacturer offers it (and as a base option).

I have Android and so does the majority of cell phone owners... I don't get it why Toyota would include Apple but not Android...

I'm sure it has all to do with $$$. If what market wanted was all that mattered, Lexus would have stayed more relevant in their technology. I get it, they go for reliability and don't have to put out beta first run products, but they're very behind, If not last in this area. They want younger customers, hard to get them with flip phone era tech. I'm pretty confident the 2019 ES will address this, and eventually Android Auto and better interfaces will come. They'll have to if they're going to stay in business.

NY auto show is already here, lots of photos are there for redesigned RAV4. Can't wait to see 2019 ES!

Started today and I'm going next Tuesday... Big news about the new crossover too. The Lexus UX. No photos available for the ES cars yet...

Here's a new rendering. I think this is probably pretty close.

I can read Japanese (very slowly) and it looks like this is going to replace GS and will be called Lexus CG (I know it's weird name but the source says so) and they will hit Japanese market this year somewhere August ~ October, according to VP-level dealers. 2.5 Turbo (CG 350) will take some more time (1 year?) to hit the market. Initially it will offer 2.5L hybrid (CG 300h).

Since they said GS is no longer that does not surprise me but that to me indicates that ES name will probably go away also if what you read is true.

although in the american market it may still be called the ES with GS no longer.

if its based off of the new avalon like the ES has been for the 6th gens, it most likely will be lower than current gen.

Looks nice. A sales associate at the Lexus dealership in my town said that it will debut at the China auto show this month, followed shortly by marketing and sales material. Can't wait!
