All navigation screen stuff aside, I'm optimistic the new ES will get CarPlay - check out this link about Lexus adding CarPlay but no Android...

Assuming CarPlay is included in base, its intoduction may cannibalize sales of Nav options. I am not sure it makes sense to pay for Lexus’ mediocre navigation system if one has access to an alternative (and likely better) product - for free. Of course on the other hand Toyota can’t just continue ignoring CarPlay and Android Auto since just about every other manufacturer offers it (and as a base option).

We’ll probably know at the end of the month. Toyota will likely show several redesigned car models at the NY Auto Show.

I'm sure it has all to do with $$$. If what market wanted was all that mattered, Lexus would have stayed more relevant in their technology. I get it, they go for reliability and don't have to put out beta first run products, but they're very behind, If not last in this area. They want younger customers, hard to get them with flip phone era tech. I'm pretty confident the 2019 ES will address this, and eventually Android Auto and better interfaces will come. They'll have to if they're going to stay in business.

Here's a new rendering. I think this is probably pretty close.

Looks pretty nice to me but no one really knows what's in store for the redesign...

I can read Japanese (very slowly) and it looks like this is going to replace GS and will be called Lexus CG (I know it's weird name but the source says so) and they will hit Japanese market this year somewhere August ~ October, according to VP-level dealers. 2.5 Turbo (CG 350) will take some more time (1 year?) to hit the market. Initially it will offer 2.5L hybrid (CG 300h).
although in the american market it may still be called the ES with GS no longer.
