Default Low Tire Pressure Warning and it is OK?

Twice now my low tire pressure light has gone on and the pressure is fine. This past week the light went on s I went over to the on dash pressure gauge. All tires showed pressure at 32 psi but one of them was highlighted with 32 psi - same as all others. Eventually the light went out and things returned to normal but it was odd that the warning light came on and tire pressure showed normal.

Your TPMS was probably initialized at a higher pressure and with cold weather 32 was low until you drove the car a little distance and the pressure went up 2-3 psi. A lot of dealers set them at almost 40 psi and 32 would be low. I think the range is something like 6 psi - I initialize mine a little high and then take them back down to where I want them so that the warning light will come on when they are down maybe 3 psi instead of 6.

Tis the time of year when the tire pressures drop with the temp drop. I got air yesterday and there were 4 cars waiting behind me to do the same

It's the pressure sensors being thrown off by colder weather. I had it happen on one tire, I checked it with a hand-held gauge and it was just a bit lower than the others. I pumped them all up to 32 psi and the error went away. You might have to press the TPMS reset button near the OBD port.

The TPMS sensors seem to read 1.5 psi or 10 kPa lower than with hand-held gauges. I tried three electronic gauges and they all reported slightly higher values.
