What year is your car? What options? Miles?
If it were me, I would ask for the Insurance Adjusters Manager. Ask him to give you a complete breakdown list of all parts and labor thus far, and remaining work, parts, and labor. I would be jumping up and down and telling them to total the car. That's just what I would be doing at this point if it was me. I would also stop all work right now until...... Just what I would do.
Carfax on car is going to show front end, with Frame Damage.

Hello again
My car is a 2016 with lux pkg, pre-collision, nav, pano and 18 wheels. I have 12,000 miles on it.
Talked to my attorney last night and he has already spoken to both insurance companies and notified them that we expect the car to be considered totaled or we will go for diminished value plus. The body shop has been notified to hold off on any further work until notified.
We shall see.

Do you have a UL ES?
That car should not be repaired and given back to you. I got burned on a car years ago the same way. The Insurance company needs to do some serious calculations on the cost, including the additional cost. Be sure they are quoting and using Lexus Only parts, and no used parts. That will make the estimates higher.
I would content that the insurance Company and Body Repair shop likely should have done a better estimate when it was torn down for inspection after the initial estimate, which would have uncovered far greater cost was involved. Thus it should have been totaled back then, and is their fault and responsibility.
Diminished value with insurance companies are hardly ever enough to fairly offset or compensate. In fact if you factor in that and the repair cost, your Attorney should be able to get you out of the car, and hopefully the Attorney's fees will be minimal or picked up by the insurance company.
Keep us posted.

Update: 60 days today my car went into the body shop. Today it was towed to the dealer to have brakes, a/c and stuff reconnected and everything tested. I literally had to explode at the body shop. The dealer needs it a full day. Then it goes back to the shop for detailing. I have repeatedly told the shop I want the car back before Christmas. The total repair cost is now at $15,000 not including the cost for the dealers work.
The rental car bill now stands at $1,100 (my insurance already paid for 30 days). The person that hit me, her insurance will reimburse me sometime.
I do have an attorney, who is a friend, and he has gone after loss of value before so probably later than sooner they will pay, how much we agree on is another story.
After I get my hands on the car I am going directly to the dealer to get a new ES.
I have learned a lot during the past 60 days.
All because someone was on their phone.
Yes, I am grateful that no one was hurt.
Life goes on.

You have a great attitude towards this unfortunate incident. Better, I think, than I'd have if I was involved. Good luck to you and hope you get the car that you want with a good deal.

Update: Picked my car up from the body shop. Sold it to the Lexus dealer at a big loss, they will whole sale it, and bought a 2018 eminent white with parchment, luxury package and all the goodies.
I'll will miss the matador red... ES looks good in white.
I will go after my loss, diminished claim, with the other persons insurance.
Tomorrow is another day.

On another note, my wife has been driving White Pearl ES' since the 250 in '91, black interior is her preference. Great color always looks clean, even when filthy and shines up real nice.
Me, I've driven 2 Matador Red IS-250s and I'm now in a M.R. IS-F

GOOD LUCK with your new wheels.

Yes, sorry to hear about your ES - but the silver lining is the new ES. Congrats on the new wheels. We love our Matador red NX but the ES looks great in white too.

Sorry to hear about the damaged ES, at least you're in a new vehicle now. White is a great color for lazy folks like me It looks half decent even when under a coat of winter dirt and when it's clean and shiny, it looks gorgeous under the sun.

Update:
The total damage was $17,000, bent frame rails and engine cradle. Took 62 days from start to finish.
Won my small claims court case. Here in CA we do have diminished value and a law that dealers cannot resale a car as a CPO with frame damage. Had all documentation and the judge said "this was a new car".
Interesting that her insurance refused to work with us in court. The judge gave us what we were asking for.
After we left the court room the insurance guy says "I don't blame you. I would have done the same thing".
