300h hybrid battery
My dad plans on buying a used 2014 300h with 21k miles. He was wondering about the hybrid battery life on this model. How long do they last before they need to be replaced?

No one knows for sure. The warranty is for 8 years or 100,000 in GA so you do not need to worry about it for another 4 or so years. The battery is a proven type used in the Camry and Avalon hybrids and I have not read anything about failures. Get the car and enjoy it. It is so quiet and the ride is very good, you cannot beat the rear seat leg room either.

Camry hybrids with the same drivetrain seem to have no problem making it to 10 years without traction battery issues. That said, there are Priuses that require battery replacement after that time. The problem is that one or two cells fall below a minimum voltage threshold - the standard Toyota procedure is to swap out the entire pack but it's also possible to get a third party to replace single cells.
If you're really worried about battery pack health, I'd get an OBD Bluetooth reader app like Torque for Android. It lets you see custom OBD values like voltage and resistance for single cells. I use it on my ES300h to check how the battery's holding up, for those early weekend mornings when I get to indulge my inner geek
