Moisture in tail lights from car wash
i have a 2017 es350 which I love and it's my first Lexus. When I wash the car by hand, I have noticed that the tail lights get moisture in them. I purchased the car this August. Attached are photos with the moisture. It does go away after some time. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks to all who respond.

With the 2013 ES that I had for 3 1/2 years, I got a small amount of moisture inside the tail light lenses when, like you, I washed the car, but it seemed to be completely gone by the next day. But, with the 2017 ES that I have had for almost a year, I have not seen the same moisture after washing the car. With the 2013, I don't think that the small amount of moisture caused any problems, but I'm still glad to see that it doesn't happen with the 2017.

Thanks for the post lesz. Sounds like it could be a problem so I will ask Lexus when I take it in for the first service. I only have about 300 miles on her so far.

I test drove a 2013 over the weekend, and the owner advised that was an issue he had with his. He said it didn't cause any mechanical defects, however I find that hard to believe if water is getting inside 2-3x a month

No way any moisture including water from a car wash should be getting inside the taillights. These lights are sealed and should be waterproof just like the headlights.
This requires a fix... My car is over 5 years old and after countless car washes I've never seen this.

no
I have a 2013 Lexus ES350 and wash it almost every month for 4 years. Not a single time do I see moisture inside tail light. If you brought your 2017 new, I would take it back to the dealer for a fix.

No way should you be getting water in your tail light assembly. Not exactly the same thing but along the same lines... last month I noticed I was getting condensation in the passenger side headlight.. Dealership replaced 1600 dollar assembly with a new one saying there was a structural failure of the headlight assembly.. I would think you Lexus dealer should take care of this for you.

What ended up happening? Did u get it resolved or did they say it was normal?

went in for service. Dealer said this is normal as long as there is no standing water.
At least he said if it becomes a problem, I have it documented with them as it’s on the repair order. I find it hard t9 believe this is normal as others have said they never seen this. Keeping my eye on it.

My guess is none. If that is the case, it is not "normal" to have moisture in the light.

It would be hard to determine this unless we walk around with a hose spraying each car.
I do agree it’s not normal. My next service I will bring it up again and see what happens.

The seal is broken and has been for almost a year. There should be no moisture inside a sealed headlight or taillight unit. The service writer is blowing smoke at you. Ask for the manager and insist that it be fixed before your warranty expires...
