Correct, same family of engines, not the same engine. The V8 in the Tundra displaces 1.1L more. It's a different engine built around the same basic framework...such as with the ES and GS.

Avalon and ES use the exact same engine.

Did you read what I posted in this thread? I actually said that I would buy a new ES over a used LS, and I posted what I thought was a pretty objective list of reasons why somebody should buy an ES over an LS. I also had several members specifically ask me for my thoughts in this thread.

The LS is a better car, I don't think anybody would dispute that (I see plenty of ES owners in this thread who have said that) but that doesn't mean it's the right car for every buyer. I chose the ES twice...

I've had the ES, GS and LS and each have their benefits.

So that's a no. You don't own this generation ES350.

But you think there's very little difference between the Avalon and Es350 and you have to spend more money to get a "real" Lexus platform. Like your 460.

Just wanted to clear up the confusion.

Which is what I said originally and for some reason you decided to say I was wrong about it.

You're putting words in my mouth, that's not what I said. Yes the more expensive cars are better, that's the same with any carmaker, the more expensive the car the better it is. The stiffer bespoke platforms and the more sophisticated suspensions have a benefit, but they also have a cost. As with anything, it's a cost/benefit decision. An S550 is better than my LS460 but I didn't buy that. Doesn't hurt me to admit it's better.

I don't find much driving feel difference between the Avalon and the ES, however choosing between the two I would still choose the ES every time. It's a better package all around.

I don't understand what all the stink is about. Our Avalon was a great car and we really enjoyed it. It absolutely does compare to the ES in many ways, including the engine. I enjoy our ES and prefer it over the Avalon, but I fail to understand why we should be upset over the comparison.

Oh, and Steve, I always enjoy hearing your perspective even if you don't currently own this generation ES.

I do think its a little unusual for someone to make so many posts in a forum dedicated to the ES - 6th Gen (2013-present) when they have never owned one, and are not interested in buying one and only own other Lexus products.

I for one, like SW15LS's posts. I enjoy reading them and the picture of the very cute kid under his signature :-)

Keep it up, SW15LS! You are welcome here and we love your posts...

Plenty of folks on this site don't think it's unusual at all and welcome Steve's input - he's probably one of the most knowledgeable posters on this forum, especially when it concerns Lexus vehicles.
