Dashcam Hardwire Install Options
Hi everyone, fist time poster but have been lurking around.
So I recently purchased a new 2017 ES 350 and bought a dash cam. Has anyone tried to hardwire the power supply into the upper compartment where the map lights are?
I have read though some of the forums on ones that have done it to other models but I was looking for advise on the ES. Right now I just plan to run the wire done the A pillar and across the floorboards to the rear cigarette lighter. Ive never really done any DYI work to any of my cars and I dont want to mess up the new lexus lol.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi,
Check out my video! In this video, it's for a Highlander, but I have it the same exact way in my ES. Also, if you need a hardwiring kit + add a fuse like I used in the video, I can sell you both!
Are you in Houston by any chance?

So I just got the camera today and just had time to install the wire. Ran the wire from the mirror up inside the headliner till reaching the A pillar, Then pried the top of the A pillar trim piece and to the rubber door seal and ran the wire down the seal to the bottom foot-well then shoved the wire under the door scuff plate and back to the rear 12V cigarette plug that never gets used.
Hopefully this way doesn't mess with the Side Curtain Airbag.. I don't think it should but when I was prying the A Pillar trim at the top I could see the air bag.
Does your Highlander have the A pillar side curtain air bags?
