Default top of back up camera view blocked by phone connection message on 13 300h

This is a quirk that has bothered me since I got the car. When you first turn the car on, if you begin reversing, the top of the back up camera display is blocked by the message informing you that the phone has successfully been connected. Does anyone know if Lexus has ever offered a fix or update to rectify this issue?

You might research that a bit. I had a 2013 ES and I remember the problem but don't recall if there was ever a solution posted. I now have a 2016 ES and that message no longer appears. I kind of think the only answer was that when it was really important you just had to wait for the message to clear which wasn't really acceptable as it didn't clear until I had traveled a block or more.

Even though this is a minor thing, it is indeed very annoying because it happens every time you start the car. What I do now is, as soon as I get into the car, the first thing I do is to push the Start/Stop power button 2 times into the accessory mode to give the car time to finish the phone connection and transfer of data. Then put the seat belt on and settle in my seat then start the engine.

The other thing you have to remember is when backing up don't touch the radio or climate control, otherwise, you will get again message on top of the screen that blocks your view, and you have to stop and wait for it to go away.

This can easily be turned off. Go to Menu > then Phone > then Phone Display Settings and turn off the following:

•display phonebook transfer status
•display call history transfer status.

Then back to menu and go to "Bluetooth" and then "Bluetooth Detailed Settings" and scroll down to turn off:

• display phone status
• display portable player status

I have all of these turned off and don't have any drop down messages pop up when I start and then immediately put car into reverse. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I don't have these options in my car. Mine is 2013 model year. It is good to know that in later model years they fixed this issue.

Mine is a 2013 too. I am surprised you don't have these options in the menu.

I just tried this on my 2013 ES300h with Nav and it worked! Thank you! I would add that after MENU, go to SETTINGS, then to PHONE.

Yes, sorry it is Menu > Setup > Phone > Phone Display Settings

and Menu > Setup > Bluetooth > Detailed Bluetooth Settings

Thank You Yoder. I followed your instructions and it solved the problem. I only wish I would have posted my question a long time ago. This is why I love this forum!
