New Mobil oil

Have not but I always get my five quart jug at Walmart. Walmart has it double the price of regular Mobil 1. Can not imagine any filter being effective for over 10,000 mile. So it comes down to the law of diminishing returns. Is it really twice as good as an oil that already gets great reviews. On sale it is $23 or regular price $25. Someone posted about their rebate. It has expired but feel sure they will bring it back. It was $12 off the five quart jug.

I have not tried the mobil 1 synthetic 20k mile oil and don't imagine I will. I can see where if you drive less than 20k miles a year it would be cheaper to change it once a year, even though the 5 qt jug of the 20k mile jug runs around 50 bucks.. But I look at it this way, most people drive 15 to 20K miles a year or more.... If you're one of those that drives 18 or 19 K miles a year, you are pretty much at the end of the life span on that oil, or getting pretty close to it anyway... so is it worth it ? Not to me.. also as Freds430 pointed out, no way do I want to push my oil filter to 20k miles... take all of what I said with a grain of salt... I'm old school, I change my oil and filter every 5K miles... Is that overkill? Probably, but I normally don't put more than 10K miles a year on my car so I only change it twice a year... and changing every 5K miles I feel 100% confident that my engine is "more" than protected using mobil 1 full synthetic oil.

Marketing gimmick. Long term engine life is dictated by the timely preventive maintenance the owners gives the cooling, fuel, ignition, emission and exhaust systems, not by whether the owner choses a conventional, synthetic or "ultra" synthetic.. Even the cheapest recycled conventional oil will reduce engine wear (if changed every 3000-5000 miles) to the point where engine compression will still be like new after 400,000 miles assuming the other engine systems (cooling, fuel, ignition, emission and exhaust) receive timely preventive maintenance. The vast majority of owners ignore the maintenance requirements of these other engine system hence lots of cars that were treated to a premium synthetic motor oil for 10-15 years or 150,000 miles still end up in the scrap heap due to engine damage caused by a malfunctioning cooling, fuel, ignition, emission or exhaust system.
