iPhone directions thru Bluetooth
Ok,we're in our 70's and we just got our first smart phone (iPhone) to use in our 2013 ES350. When traveling the phone road directions do not come through the car speakers unless you have the car media set to the Bluetooth tab. If that is the case I assume you can still call out or receive a call while getting directions through BT. I did learn from the Apple support guys that if you turn off Bluetooth on you phone you can hear the verbal directions thru the phone, in our case is hard due to hearing problems. My question is can you also listen to the radio (AM/FM or Sat) while receive phone directions while in the BT mode? I have read the book closely but cannot seem to find the answer.
Any help would be appreciated

I know from experience that one gets phone calls through the BT when the radio is on because the phone over rides the radio. I am not sure about the nav. Easiest way would be to go for a drive with the iPhone nav connected through BT and get your spouse or a friend to call you using another phone. You can then educate the rest of us :-)

Hello, I have a 2013 es300h and you don't need to be on the bluetooth menu in the car for your maps to work. I use Google Maps and under the settings - navigation settings in the actual Google Maps app there is a setting to play voice over bluetooth. As long as this is turned on and you're phone is connected to the car through bluetooth, the voice will play over the speakers when using navigation. You don't have to be in the bluetooth menu and you can use any function (radio, cd, etc) as normal and google maps will use the speakers when a turn is upcoming.
Thanks.
Thanks.
